How to hang a chandelier with your own hands: mounting methods, options for connecting to the network, principles of dismantling. How to hang a chandelier with a strip if there is a hook? How to hang a heavy chandelier

R ask a question how to hang a chandelier or other ceiling lamp, you can resort to the services of an electrician. Or, with the help of our article, hang the chandelier yourself. Installing a chandelier with your own hands is not a difficult task and the only difficulty is that you may need a hammer drill (literally for five minutes of work). If you just decide to change the old chandelier, and the old chandelier is in good condition, then all you need are screwdrivers (Phillips and narrow, 2-2.5 mm slot), and small pliers.

Choosing and purchasing a chandelier

After you choose in the store suitable model lamp, you will most likely be given it disassembled. You can ask that the chandelier be assembled right in the store, but it’s not very convenient to carry a bulky, fragile device in your car, let alone public transport. When making a purchase, carefully check the complete set of the chandelier, especially the mounting details, so as not to return to the store later for a tiny nut. We recommend a good online store where you will find the widest selection of chandeliers and other lamps with delivery throughout Russia.

Modern inexpensive (up to 5 thousand rubles) models, with all external diversity, have only two types of fastenings. A loop that clings to a hook in the ceiling, shown in the pictures below, or fixed to the ceiling mounting plate, to which the chandelier is then attached using bolts and decorative nuts, the section can be seen in the pictures below. The mounting point is covered with a decorative overlay - a cup that moves on the chandelier suspension. The cup is fixed in the raised position either by a tight plastic washer or by a small bolt. In the second option, the decorative overlay is often also a fastening element; we will tell you how to hang such chandeliers further.

Chandelier assembly

How to assemble a chandelier is usually clear even without instructions (which, by the way, are often not given!), however, little advice- if possible, take a photo of the assembled chandelier in the store, at least with the help mobile phone, you’ll have to rack your brains less later. When assembling, do not be lazy to check the wire connections; there have been cases when the lamps did not light up when turned on, or even a short circuit occurred.

The assembled chandelier must be fixed to the ceiling, that is, the chandelier must be hung. In the very simple version, this is a regular hook. Alas, the simplest option is not always the best. The fact is that the height of the decorative “cup” is not always enough to cover this entire rather bulky structure, and an unsightly gap remains between the overlay and the ceiling. If you bend the hook, then putting some types of loops on it becomes a problem.

How to hang a chandelier using a hook

However, hanging a chandelier using a hook is, in most cases, convenient and secure. There are several types of anchors. If you need to hang a small lamp weighing one to one and a half kilograms, you can use a regular hook with a screw thread, screwed into plastic stopper- dowel. For heavy chandeliers, it is necessary to use metal expansion anchors, with a length of at least fifty and a cross-section of ten millimeters.

The fastening device using a hook is carried out as follows: using a hammer drill, a hole with a diameter of at least 8 mm is drilled in the ceiling for a plastic dowel or anchor. When using plastic dowels, use corrugated ones with a minimum length of 40 mm. It is better not to use smooth dowels; they are held in the slab much worse. If, after drilling a hole, you find yourself in a void in the slab (which often happens), it’s okay, the dowel will fix even better.

After this, screw the hook into the dowel, or install an expansion anchor and hang the chandelier. The wires of the chandelier are connected to the wires coming from them using a special block equipped with clamping bolts (sometimes this block is called a terminal block). It is to tighten the bolts of this block that you will need a slotted screwdriver with a narrow blade. The block comes complete with the chandelier. If it is not there, they are twisted and insulated with insulating tape. It would be better, of course, solder the twists, but you can do without it, especially when using energy-saving lamps. Move the decorative “cup” close to the ceiling and fix it.

How to hang a chandelier using a decorative strip

Hanging a chandelier using a metal strip is a little more difficult. The plank is applied to the ceiling at the location of the chandelier. Use a pencil or thin marker to mark the locations for drilling holes for the dowels. Having removed the bar, drill holes and drive dowels into them. The fastening bolts are inserted into the bar, moved apart to a distance corresponding to the distance between the holes in the decorative trim of the chandelier, and so that they do not move, they are clamped with nuts.

Then, the plank is placed on the ceiling, screwing it with screws. Next, the most the hard part work that is best done with an assistant. The decorative box must be placed against the ceiling above the plank so that the exposed bolts fit into the holes in the box. Before this, connect the wires of the chandelier and. To make it more comfortable, stand as high as possible. When performing these operations, an assistant must hold the chandelier (you will not connect the wires with one hand). When the bolts line up with the holes, decorative box pressed to the ceiling and secured with decorative nuts.

Anyone can skillfully and correctly hang a chandelier on their own, without being an electrician or calling in specialists. Of course, installing a chandelier under the ceiling is a very serious task, but it does not require high level special training.

There are several different ways mounting a decorative lighting fixture under the ceiling - a chandelier. Determines tactics, first of all, total weight products. It is logical that a heavier chandelier requires solid, thoughtful mounting.

Let's consider the most effective, frequently used techniques.

Methods of mounting a chandelier

Fixing the chandelier using a hook

A metal hook is the most simplified and reliable option. There are two ways to use various types hooks:

1. When the weight of the chandelier is less than 3.5-4.0 kg, you can safely use a threaded hook. The installation technology is simple - having drilled the required hole (in diameter and depth) in the ceiling material, you need to place a plastic dowel in the channel. Then all that remains is to carefully screw in the hook to the maximum possible depth.

Attention! The hook holding the chandelier can only be attached to concrete or massive wooden base(beams, logs, beams, etc.). It is unacceptable to mount the main element in drywall, plastic panels or decorative overlays!

2. If the lighting device is heavier than 4.0 kg, then the technology will be different. In this case, you need to use special anchor bolts (d>=10.0 mm2) with a spacer hook. Having completed the drilling desired channel, you need to put an anchor in it and tighten it to the limit. Now, the lamp will be securely located under the ceiling.

To disguise the fastening system, a decorative cup-shaped element (included with the chandelier) is used. This part slides freely along the main rod and can be fixed in its upper part. Therefore, if desired, it is quite easy to adjust the height of the chandelier.

Mounting the chandelier using a bracket or strip

The second fastening method, which involves the use of a strip or bracket, is more complex, but can be done independently.

If the chandelier kit is of high quality, it must include a metal strip (or bracket) intended for hanging. This element contains two screws that need to be secured with appropriate nuts. Now, the created complex is fixed to the ceiling, in which channels are pre-drilled and PVC dowels are installed.

The chandelier is brought to the ceiling and, by inserting bolts into special holes, is fixed under the ceiling.

Advice! If the ceiling is wooden, then the bracket is secured with wood screws required length. And when the ceiling is plasterboard construction, you need to fix the chandelier with metal screws to the supporting profile strip!

Simplified mounting option

When the purchased chandelier is small and light, you can do without auxiliary fixing mechanisms and attach the lighting fixture directly to the ceiling surface. At the base of these chandeliers there is a small metal plate with several holes for installation.

The installation technology is extremely simple. The locations of the screws are marked and channels are drilled at these points. They are placed in the holes of PVC dowels and the lamp is secured with at least 2 screws.

The process of placing and fixing a chandelier on the ceiling is full of various nuances, among which the most significant are:

1. Massive, elongated chandeliers are suitable only for placement on high ceilings, otherwise, in addition to aesthetic disharmony, there will be a danger of electric shock.

2. It is better to equip low ceilings with flat or small lamps that are close to the surface. Otherwise, distinguished guests will be in uncomfortable conditions. Also a large chandelier model in small room will cause constant psychological discomfort due to low overhang.

Method of connecting a chandelier to the network

Installation issues have been addressed and now you can proceed to the most difficult stage - creating electrical system with switches. Usually the chandelier kit is supplied ready-made, but sometimes you have to make your own corrections or completely redo the local wiring.

Let's consider possible situations with switches:

Single-key switches

There are no special unclear moments here. From each lamp comes a pair of wires of the same color or different (this is not critical). One cord from all lampshades must be brought together into a single contact, and the others into a second combined twist. Now we bring one connection to the phase wire, and the second to the neutral wire, which together come from the switch.

Two-gang switch

In fact, such a relay is a combination of two single-key devices that has three outputs (a common one and two separate ones).

First, let's deal with the wires, of which we will have 4: two two-wire wires from the lampshades, a three-wire wire from the switch and a double wire from the electrical panel.

The connection principle is as follows:

- combined into one twist, one conductor from each lampshade and neutral wire from the electrical panel;

— the phase conductor from the shield is connected to the common contact of the two-key switch;

— the remaining wire from each lamp is connected to the output of one of the keys;

Hello, dear readers and site visitors.

After purchasing a chandelier, the question always arises of how to install it. In this article I will tell you how to hang a lamp or chandelier without calling specialists.

There is nothing complicated about this and you can easily do it on your own. But some subtleties and nuances need to be mentioned.

There are several ways to mount and install a chandelier in the ceiling:

  • on a metal hook
  • on a bracket or bar
  • directly to the surface

Let's look at each fastening method in more detail.

Installing a chandelier using a hook

This is the simplest and convenient way chandelier mountings. We hang it on a metal hook pre-installed on the ceiling. My example shows an old-style metal hook installed during the construction of the house.

1. How to hang a light chandelier

If the chandelier is not heavy and weighs up to 3-4 (kg), then you can use a metal hook like this with a thread.

Using a hammer drill, we drill a hole in the ceiling, insert a plastic dowel into it and screw in the hook. The chandelier mount is ready.

Also, using a threaded metal hook, you can install the chandelier in a ceiling with wooden floor. The hook just needs to be screwed into wooden base ceiling.

I would like to draw your attention to the following. Installing a hook in a plasterboard ceiling is prohibited. In this case, the metal hook must be attached to concrete base ceiling.

2. How to hang a heavy chandelier

If the chandelier is heavy and weighs more than 5 (kg), then it is better to use special anchor bolts with a diameter of 10 sq. mm. with spacer hook.

Drill a hole in the ceiling of the required diameter. After that, insert the anchor into it and tighten it until it stops. This chandelier mount is very reliable.

Chandeliers that are designed to be installed on a hook have a special decorative cup.

The cup moves freely in height and is fixed in the upper position to hide places.

Installation of a chandelier using a bracket (bar)

Now we will look at how to install a chandelier without a metal hook. I consider this method of fastening somewhat more complicated than the previous one, but not so complicated as to resort to paid services specialists.

Included with the purchased chandelier is a special metal bracket or strip. We install 2 screws into this bracket or bar, adjusting the distance between them, and then tighten them with nuts. After this, we attach the bracket to the ceiling using a hammer drill and two dowel nails.

Previously, a chandelier on a metal hook was installed in this place. The purchased new chandelier is attached using a bracket, so I bent the hook towards the ceiling, which you can see in the photo. You can even cut off the hook, but in this position it doesn’t bother me at all.

Tighten the two fastening decorative nuts.

The chandelier is installed and ready for use.

I won’t dwell on this now, because... this is the topic of a separate article. Read in upcoming issues.

P.S. So, in this article we learned how to install a chandelier using metal hooks, brackets and directly to the surface. Now let's move on to connecting it. Read about this in my next articles.

When dealing with a concrete ceiling, many people prefer to turn to specialists so that they can quickly hang a chandelier for them for a fee. Stops people like this a large number of bolts and fasteners, as well as the need to screw in hooks and connect all these elements to each other. But in fact, there is nothing complicated about attaching a chandelier to the ceiling, and everyone can do it on their own!

Before starting work, you need to get all necessary tool. There is nothing specific in this set, and all appliances can be found in every home.

List of tools required for work:

  1. Screwdriver;
  2. Drill or hammer drill;
  3. Key for twelve;
  4. Screwdriver with indicator;
  5. Fasteners;
  6. Pliers;
  7. Terminal block;

You will need a key for twelve when assembling the chandelier itself. And with the help of an indicator screwdriver you will determine the place where you need to connect the wires. A standard screwdriver and pliers will be needed when attaching the chandelier, and a terminal block when separating the wires.

By the way, light bulbs blinking when the power is turned off is a problem of incorrectly separated wires.

How to remove a chandelier from the ceiling

However, if you are making repairs and not equipping new apartment then, most likely, the first thing you will encounter is an old chandelier that needs to be replaced.

An old chandelier can be removed from the ceiling in several stages:

  1. Turn off the electricity in the house;
  2. Prepare terminal blocks, electrical tape and an indicator screwdriver;
  3. If the lamp has additional elements(bugle beads, lampshades), then try to remove them in advance.
  4. Unscrew the cap behind which the chandelier mount is hidden;
  5. Now you have a fastening in front of you: either a bar or a hook.
  6. Disconnect the wires by spreading them apart;
  7. Wrap exposed wires with electrical tape.

After this, you can remove the chandelier itself and prepare to install a new one. As you can see, there is nothing complicated here, and you can handle everything yourself.

If your chandelier is mounted on a strip, you may not be able to separate the wires right away. In this case, you need to loosen the bolts a little using a screwdriver.

Mount for chandelier to ceiling

As we mentioned above, chandelier mounts come in different types. And if removing a chandelier from them is an almost equally simple task, then their installation, on the contrary, can be very different.

There are two main types of mounting chandeliers on the ceiling:

  1. Hook;
  2. Plank (bracket).

The hook-shaped mount has been used since the time of the very first chandeliers, and on the Soviet market it was generally the only chandelier mount. This is why owners, when buying a new chandelier, are surprised that there is no hook and it is unclear how to attach the chandelier.

If your kit did not include a hook, then check that there should be a mounting strip somewhere. Fastening using such a strip (also called a bracket) is modern and is considered more reliable in operation.

However, the hook has not gone out of use, and many domestic companies still produce chandeliers only with a hook mount.

Attaching the chandelier to the ceiling with a hook

This method of fastening is considered more complex than fastening to a bar. And you should be careful: if the chandelier is not secured firmly enough, it can fall to the floor and break at any moment.

In addition, hook fastening is divided into two types:

  1. With standard thread;
  2. With anchor bolt.

The first version of the hook is suitable only for small-sized chandeliers whose weight does not exceed three kilograms, otherwise the mount may not withstand the load and the chandelier will fall.

If your chandelier is heavy, weighing four or more kilograms, it must come with a special anchor bolt, which can withstand much more weight.

If you have a large chandelier and there were anchor bolts attached to it, then installation will be a little more difficult. You also need to drill a hole in the ceiling, and then screw in the anchor bolt until it stops, onto which the chandelier is hung.

Please note that the anchor bolt must be inserted all the way, only then is there a guarantee that the structure will not fall to the floor one day!

How to attach a chandelier to the ceiling without a hook

If you didn’t find a hook with the chandelier, it means it is attached using a special mounting strip. Such a bar can be done without special labor purchase at any hardware store. The price will not surprise you, since such devices cost very little.

If you replace a chandelier with a new one, then the old one will leave a hook in the ceiling. Be sure to remove it before installing the strip.

Attaching the chandelier strip to the ceiling

After you have removed the hook from the old chandelier, you need to proceed to installing the metal strip.

You can set the bar in several steps:

  1. Drill two holes in the ceiling;
  2. Drive dowels into the holes;
  3. Insert self-tapping screws into the strip and screw them into the dowels;

After this, the metal strip is completely fixed to the ceiling, but further work on installing the chandelier may require an assistant, since if you are installing a chandelier for the first time, you may not be able to do it alone.

Don't neglect using quality dowels. Thanks to them, the fastening becomes stronger, which means greater safety in the room.

How to hang a chandelier from the ceiling

After you have secured the hook or bar to the ceiling, figured out the structure of your chandelier, perhaps even watched an instructional video, it’s time to move on to installation.

As we noted above, it is best to find an assistant who, during installation, will hold the chandelier in his hands at a convenient distance for you, and then help move it to the wiring.

While the assistant is holding the chandelier, you need to:

  1. Connect the chandelier wires to the wiring;
  2. Install the protective cap;
  3. Securely secure the cap with a screwdriver.

Before you start attaching the chandelier, make sure once again using the wall switch that the electricity is turned off.

This completes the installation of the chandelier.

Installing a chandelier on the ceiling with your own hands (video)

As you can see, installing a chandelier to the ceiling with your own hands is a simple process, but it may require special tools and outside help. The main thing is to follow safety precautions and install all fastenings as firmly as possible.

It would seem that what could be difficult about hanging a chandelier from the ceiling? From my distant childhood I remember a metal hook sticking out in the middle of the ceiling and wires with remnants of electrical tape. All the lamps were of the same type, and fixing them was quite simple: hang them on a hook and connect the wires using twists. However, with today's diversity lighting fixtures everything has become a little more complicated - the design and method of fastening can be very different. All methods for securely attaching a chandelier to concrete ceiling are described in this article.

Chandeliers and lamps: types of fastenings

The design of modern lamps can be different, from a tight-fitting lampshade to a multi-arm chandelier on a long rod. Moreover, their weight, as well as the load on the ceiling, also differ.

The most common mounting methods:

  • a hook fixed in the ceiling and a suspension on the lamp;
  • a mounting strip in the form of a bent metal strip with two holes for mounting to the ceiling and fixed screws or studs for mounting the lampshade;
  • cross-shaped mounting strip - it differs in the number of mounting points and is suitable for massive lamps.

You usually don’t have to choose the mounting method - it depends on the purchased chandelier and is specified in the technical data sheet for the device. And here is the correct one reliable fastening The lamp depends on you.

Electrical wiring: how to avoid getting tangled in wires

Older homes don't have modern, color-coded wiring. There are usually two or three wires sticking out of a hole in the ceiling slab in the same, battered insulation. If the wiring is new and laid in compliance with the requirements of the PUE, then the individual cable cores have different color, by which you can easily determine their purpose.

Basic requirements of the PUE for electrical wiring of residential buildings. File for download.

Old-style chandeliers and inexpensive modern lamps may have wires of the same color, which will also have to be ringed for correct connection. In modern chandeliers, this rule is more often observed, and all outgoing wires are color-coded and collected on a block; in addition, the connection is described in detail in the passport.

The color designation of wires is carried out according to certain rules and can be easily determined from the table.

Table. Marking of wires by insulation color.

Before starting work on fixing the chandelier, you need to determine the purpose of all the wires both in the wiring and in the lamp. If both the wiring and the chandelier are new, then connecting is not difficult; just connect the conductors with the same markings on the block.

Chandelier prices

If you cannot determine the purpose of the wires by their color, you will have to do this using instruments. This is not difficult to do, the main thing is to follow safety precautions and strictly follow the instructions.

Wiring phasing

To recognize wires that are not color coded, you will need phase indicator- a device indicating the presence of phase at the ends of the wire. In appearance it looks like a screwdriver and consists of several parts: a body made of insulating material, a conductive metal tip, a signal LED or electronic display and a metal terminal at the end of the device or a button.

The presence of voltage is determined using an indicator as follows: the device is pinched between the thumb and middle finger right hand, and the index finger is placed on the metal terminal. The sting touches all the wires in turn; when you touch a phase wire that has voltage, the LED lights up or an icon appears on the electronic display.

Important! Checking the presence of voltage and searching for the phase with an indicator is carried out with one hand! It is prohibited to touch the insulation of the wire or indicator with the other hand during this time! In case of insulation breakdown, damage may occur. electric shock, and when it passes along the “hand-to-hand” path, a sudden contraction of the heart may occur.

Step 1. The first thing you need to do is turn off the power to the room, usually it is enough to turn off the circuit breaker in the panel or unscrew the plugs. The chandelier switch is also turned off. Remove the old lamp or lamp, if they were removed earlier and the ends are insulated, free them from the electrical tape. Using the indicator, check the absence of phase on all wires one by one. If necessary, the insulation is stripped, freeing approximately 1 cm of the metal core. All wires are spread apart so that they do not touch each other.

Step 2. Turn on the machine or screw in the plugs. Turn on the chandelier switch. The indicator touches the exposed part of the conductors, identifying the phase and neutral wires. For convenience, the neutral conductor is marked with a marker, electrical tape, or simply bent.

If there are three wires coming out of the ceiling and there is a two-gang switch, act in the following sequence: first turn on both keys and find the neutral and two phase wires, mark them. Disable one key and check that the phase is missing on one wire. Then they turn off the other key and make sure that the voltage is also lost on the second wire. In this case, you can connect the chandelier using a two-stage scheme.

If there is no indicator, you can determine the neutral and phase wires using a multimeter by switching it to the AC voltage measurement mode.

Step 3. Determine the place where the wires pass in ceiling. This is done so as not to accidentally damage the wiring when attaching the chandelier mounting strip. For non-contact phase determination, only an electronic indicator is suitable. It is clamped in the hand and, with the switch on, held at a short distance from the ceiling in the place where it is planned to fix the bar.

When passing by a phase wire, the indicator shows a phase icon on the display. The device is driven back and forth several times, marking the boundaries where it finds the phase. This is how the direction of the cable is determined and the place where you cannot drill is determined. Turn off the switch and the circuit breaker in the panel. You can begin further preparation.

If the wires going to the terminal are the same color or their markings do not correspond to the standard, it is better to ring them to properly connect the chandelier. This can be done using a conventional multimeter turned on in dialing mode. Before dialing begins, the light bulbs are unscrewed from the lamp.

Step 1. If the chandelier body contains conductive elements made of metal, and there are three or more wires, one of them may be grounding. They find out this way: they place one probe of the device on the conductive part of the housing, and with the second one they successively touch the bare ends of the wires or the contacts of the connecting block. The appearance of a sound means that the ground wire has been found.

Step 2. The neutral wire is determined as follows: place one of the tester probes on the side contact of any chandelier socket. Touch the unmarked wires in succession until a sound appears. Mark the neutral wire. The remaining wires are phase wires.

Step 3. In a multi-arm chandelier with two stages of lighting, one or more sockets are connected to each phase wire. If you need to determine them, for example, in order to correlate them with the desired key on a switch, then do this: attach the probe of the device to one of phase wires and sequentially touch the central contacts on the bottom of the cartridges. By sound signal determine the cartridges connected to this wire. Do the same with the other phase wire.

Spotlights

If the lamp has several lighting stages, and the wiring has one phase wire, you need to connect all the sockets to it. To do this, the phase wires coming out of the chandelier need to be combined by twisting or with a jumper on the block. After preparing the wiring and chandelier, you can begin fixing it to the ceiling.

Step-by-step instructions for attaching a chandelier to a concrete ceiling

Before installing the chandelier you need to finish finishing ceiling. If the hole in the ceiling from which the wires come out is larger than the decorative bowl of the chandelier, it must be sealed with putty. gypsum base, clean and paint in the color of the main finish.

Necessary equipment and tools:

  • a stable stepladder or stool;
  • indicator and multimeter;
  • electrical installation tools: screwdrivers, pliers with insulated handles;
  • assembly knife or wire stripper;
  • drill or hammer drill;
  • fasteners: dowels and hooks or screws, anchors;
  • hammer;
  • electrical tape, terminals or PPE type caps.

If the length of the wires coming out of the wall does not allow them to be secured in the lamp terminals without tension, the wires must be extended using a piece of cable or mounting wire.

Note! Wires made of copper and aluminum must not be twisted together! They will quickly begin to corrode and become covered with a green coating, causing contact to deteriorate. Constant heating can lead to melting of the insulation, and then to short circuit. Connect copper and aluminum wires only using a terminal block.

Heavy lamps or chandeliers on a long rod are attached to the hook. They have a special loop for hanging on a hook, which is subsequently closed with a decorative glass or bowl. The hook may already be present on your ceiling, but sometimes you have to install it yourself.

The process of hanging a chandelier is quite simple, but attaching the hook is worth considering in more detail. For light chandeliers weighing no more than 5 kg, you can use a regular hook paired with a plastic dowel. For heavy lamps, it is better to use hooks on anchors - the latter are firmly fixed in concrete and can withstand heavy loads. The hook must be tried on the decorative bowl - it must fit completely into it along with the connecting block.

ceiling lamps

Step 1. Work is carried out with the switch, machine and plugs unscrewed. Choose a place to attach the hook. It is important to ensure that no wires pass through the thickness of the concrete; if they are damaged, you will have to completely rewire the wiring. How to do this is described above.

Step 2. The location for attaching the hook is marked with a marker or construction pencil. It should be located close to the wires, and both the hook and the wiring should be completely covered by the decorative bowl of the chandelier.

Step 3. Drill a hole of the required diameter and depth in the ceiling using a drill or hammer drill. Insert the dowel or drive the anchor all the way, then tighten the hook.

Note! So that when drilling it does not fly into the eyes concrete chips, and the ceiling is not dirty with dust, you can put a cardboard cup or half a tennis ball on the drill.

Step 4. Breakable parts and light bulbs are removed from the chandelier to avoid breakage. Hang it on a ready-made or fixed hook and connect the wires to the block. In the absence of the latter, connections using twisted connections or PPE caps are allowed. Unused ground wires must be insulated.

Step 5. Carefully lay the wires inside the decorative bowl and secure it so that the gap between its edges and the ceiling is minimal. To secure the bowl to the rod, a rubber/plastic gasket or a small screw is usually used.

Step 6. Screw in the light bulbs and put on the shades. Turn on the machine in the control panel and the switch in the room to check the operation of the chandelier.

Mounting to a mounting strip or bracket is used for most ceiling-mounted fixtures and also for some rod-mounted chandeliers. The installation of such a lamp consists of two stages: fastening the strip and installing the chandelier or lampshade itself on it. As in the case of the hook, it is necessary to turn off the electricity in the apartment.

If the chandelier is attached to the place where the hook is already attached, then it needs to be unscrewed, and if this is not possible, bent or cut down. The hole from the hook is covered with putty.

Step 1. They disassemble the lamp and unscrew the mounting plate from it, as well as remove fragile elements and unscrew the light bulbs. The screws on the mounting plate, intended for fastening the lampshade, are tightly tightened onto the locknuts, otherwise it will be difficult to secure the lamp itself later.

Step 2. Place the plank on the ceiling and mark the attachment points with a marker. It is important that they are located away from the cable laid in the ceiling. The ceiling is drilled with a hammer drill or impact drill to the required depth, insert into the dowel holes. Place the plank on the ceiling and secure it with screws.

LED chandelier

Note! The dowels can be additionally secured with glue on cement based. For this purpose in drilled hole a small amount of mixed glue is introduced, after which the dowels are inserted and the plank is secured.

Step 3. Attach the lampshade or lamp to the mounting plate using the screws installed on it. To do this, align the holes with the screws, put on the lamp and tighten the nuts a few turns.

Step 4. Connect the wires coming from the ceiling to the lamp block, after which the nuts are fully tightened and the chandelier is secured. If the screws are short and will not allow you to connect the wires while the light is suspended, you will need a helper to hold it until it is attached. You can also use a strong nylon cord to temporarily hang the lamp from the mounting plate.

Step 5. They put on the lampshades and screw in the bulbs, after which they check the functionality of the lamp using the switch.

Chandelier with cross-shaped mounting plate it is attached in a similar way, only there are not two, but four attachment points to the ceiling, and in the case of a massive lamp there can be eight of them.

Attaching a chandelier to a concrete ceiling is not difficult, but it is important to follow electrical safety rules. If you are not confident in your electrical installation skills, do not take risks, entrust the connection to a professional, as improper installation can lead to damage to the lamp or wires.

This also applies to complex chandeliers with multi-stage switching and complex logic. As a rule, unprofessional connection will void the warranty on the device, and if the chandelier fails, you will have to repair the chandelier at your own expense.

To better understand the intricacies of connecting a chandelier, we recommend watching the video.
