Lamp made of iron pipes. Loft chandeliers made from pipes - DIY projects. Loft chandelier made of pipes

Creative ideas often arise unexpectedly and, it seems, empty space. But their material implementation gives such dividends that the costs of their implementation actually seem meager. Today we will try to make a decorative lamp from a PVC pipe that looks inconspicuous at first glance, which will not leave anyone indifferent.

Will need

To materialize this creative idea In a beautiful product we need to have:
  • a piece of 10 cm PVC pipe about 30 cm long;
  • paper;
  • wooden box or timber 12×6×30 cm;
  • small piece of matte PVC plastic;
  • electrical materials (wire, plug, socket, light bulb).
You should also get:
  • metal ruler and marker;
  • Dremel;
  • milling cutter with attachments;
  • sickle knife;
  • sandpaper;
  • a can of aerosol paint;
  • glue gun.

Algorithm for making a lamp from PVC pipe

On the pipe blank we mark a section 24 cm long. Using a sheet of paper, we make circular lines on the side surface of the plastic pipe according to the markings.

Using a mini-grinder, using the circular markings, we cut off the excess from the plastic pipe blank.

We place a wooden box on the desktop that will serve as a template. Let’s check its cross-sectional dimensions once again: they should be 12x6 cm, which is acceptable as a template for a PVC pipe with a diameter of 10 cm.

We twist a sheet of paper into a bundle and set it on fire at one end from external source fire (lighters, matches, etc.).
The thermal energy from a burning sheet of paper will be quite enough to soften the material of the plastic pipe, mainly on one side. This method is for those who do not have a hair dryer.

Then quickly, before the plastic has cooled down, insert it inside the pipe wooden template and form a rectangular section from a round section along its entire length, pushing the wooden box along the pipe until it appears on the other side of the pipe blank.

Leave the template in the pipe for a while until the plastic cools down and becomes stable. rectangular shape section, after which it can be removed from there. After making sure that the shape of the rectangular plastic element is without flaws, we process the ends with a mini-drill, removing burrs and rounding the edges. We use the round ring left over from cutting a plastic pipe as a template for reproducing a circle in the center of the wide side of a rectangular plastic element.
By using hand router cut out a circle according to the applied markings and clean the edges of the resulting hole by changing the nozzle.

At a certain and equal distance from the edge of the hole, we mark 23 points, evenly spaced around the circumference of a large circle. We make 23 small holes of the same diameter according to the applied markings. Using a sickle knife, carefully remove burrs from all holes.

On the front side of the rectangular workpiece, where one large and 23 small holes have already been made, we mark two symmetrically located slots with a distance of 1.5 cm from the ends and a width of 1.5 cm, which will also go along the sides of the workpiece, slightly short of to the opposite wide side.

Carefully cut the slits using a mini-drill and cutting disc and remove the strips of plastic, helping yourself with a sickle-shaped knife. We also use it to clean the edges of the slots.

On the back side of the lamp body blank, at one end we mark and drill two small holes with a mini-drill, one below the other, and clean them with a sickle-shaped knife.

A small piece sandpaper Using a suitable grain size, we finally grind all the cutting and drilling areas of the lamp body.
We apply paint from aerosol can for the future building of our homemade lamp and make sure that it lies evenly over the entire surface and without smudges.

In accordance with the dimensions of the lamp body 12x6x24 cm, mark a sheet of translucent PVC plastic for cutting and cut out a piece of 24x24 cm using scissors. Using a marker, draw two straight lines parallel to the edges and at a distance of 6 cm from them.

Bend plastic sheet along the straight lines we draw, we get a U-shaped profile, which we insert into the lamp body so that the wide side is adjacent to the front panel from the inside and covers the large and small holes.

Glue the U-shaped matte plastic using glue gun to the lamp body at the corners and let the connection harden and set.

We pass a copper two-core wire through the upper hole made on the back side of the lamp housing so that the cartridge at one end is inside the housing.

We attach to the second end of the wire electrical plug, and we screw an incandescent light bulb with a colored bulb with a power of no more than 5 watts into the socket in order to preserve the plastic from which our lamp is mainly assembled.

We plug the plug into the electrical outlet so that the light bulb inside the body of our homemade product lights up. As a result, we will witness an unusually beautiful glow of our decorative lamp, the effect of which will increase even more if we place it in a dark place.

Attention!

Plastic dust poses a serious danger to your health, so a respiratory mask will be a good idea for the entire time you are working on a PVC pipe lamp. Gloves and safety glasses are also a good idea.

Copyright lighting are sold at incredible prices. In fact, making a lamp from pipes yourself is not a problem at all. This does not require the purchase of expensive materials or in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering. Let's consider several options for homemade lighting elements from scraps of various pipes.

Desk lamp

An original lamp made of pipes will add some zest. The structure can be assembled from scraps available on the farm or purchased material at a hardware store. After purchasing all the materials, it will take no more than an hour to assemble the lamp.

Among the necessary components:

  • Long and short nipple.
  • Six pipe squares.
  • There are the same number of small nipples that serve as corner clamps.
  • Three purposes.
  • Drill.
  • Wire with switch and plug.
  • Insulating tape.
  • Hot glue.

First, all pipes are treated with solvent, and the stickers are removed. The light element is inserted into the socket, after which the wire is pulled through the square. The light bulb socket is fixed with glue. The structure is processed carefully so as not to affect the threads, after which it is left until the adhesive composition dries.

Main stages of work

Subsequent assembly of the lamp from pipes is carried out in the following sequence:

  • A hole is prepared in the tee for the wire with reverse side using an electric drill.
  • Pipes are assembled along threads using nipples.
  • 4 corners are taken as the base, three tees are twisted together, the standard hole is directed upward, and the homemade socket is directed to the lower invisible part.
  • Two nipples connected to each other will serve as a holder.
  • The cable is pulled through pipes without a switch.
  • The switch is assembled and connected.
  • The functionality of the assembly made from pipes is checked.

This design is easy to fix if you are not satisfied with the resulting design. The result is an excellent and inexpensive night light or work desk lamp.

Wall option

The pipe lamp, the photo of which is shown above, is made as follows:

  • The grille is removed from the old street-type lamp. If it fits into the interior, this is not necessary.
  • A pipeline flange is attached to the cartridge, which will serve as a base fixed to the wall.
  • Then it is connected to a tee, nipple and angle. Another flange is attached, then the wiring is pulled through the pipes.
  • The height of the lamp placement is adjustable.
  • The lamp is connected to the socket and the switch is mounted.
  • The flange is attached to the wall using screws, and the operation of the device is checked.

The operation will require the following materials:

  • Lamp with or without grille.
  • A pair of black nipples for plumbing purposes.
  • Cable.
  • Two metal flanges, the diameter of which matches the size of the cartridge.
  • Screwdriver and fixing screws.

Loft lamps made of pipes with a concrete base

The lampshade is made from several wooden hoops for embroidery and watercolor paper. The whole process is divided into mold preparation, manufacturing concrete base, connecting wiring, assembling and fixing pipes, as well as arranging a lampshade. The container for pouring can be made of plastic; its dimensions must be sufficient to support the weight of the entire structure.

Initial stages:

  1. Using a knife, make a hole for the cable.
  2. The reinforcement wire is placed in a container.
  3. The cord is threaded through the pipes with the necessary margin.
  4. Marking tape is used to mark the exit of wires from the solution.

The cord must fit into cement mixture at the point of connection to the switch, then fed through the middle part of the pipe flange, in which a hole is provided.

Final part

Further production of the lamp from water pipes is divided into several stages:

  • Done cement mortar, which is poured into the prepared form.
  • The switch is fixed flush with the surface. Be careful not to let it drown in the mixture.
  • Mount the flange on top of the solution, thread four mounting screws through the holes.
  • After preparing the base, the wires are threaded through the pipes, attaching them to the flange.
  • Next, the free edge of the cables is pulled to the cartridge, after which the latter is attached inside the pipe.
  • The light bulb is screwed in, the switch is connected and turned over.
  • A lamp with a low power rating can be left open.
  • For a powerful light element you will need to build a lampshade. To do this, take two hoops and watercolor paper, and treat the seam with wood glue.
  • This design allows you to choose any color and fabric covering used.
  • The finished lampshade is attached using small screws that are screwed into the inside of the hoop from above, or with a thin wire attached to an additional flange of the pipe.

LED lamp

PVC pipe is ideal for of this device. It is worth noting that this option is equipped with autonomous power supply. The design of the lamp is as simple as possible; anyone can assemble it with a minimum of tools and materials. Several pieces of pipe will be required bigger size for the base, including angles and fittings, as well as a smaller diameter PVC pipe for the stand. The system uses a resistor with a power of at least 1 watt. This indicator is designed for 6 LEDs.

The circuit is connected in a standard way. It is recommended to use type. This will allow you to quickly make a nest for it in the pipe and will not require cutting additional elements in the form of a rectangle under the slide switch. In addition, the switch should not be instantaneous, otherwise you will have to constantly hold the button to operate the device. Lamp from PVC pipes equipped with a lampshade. Its painting is carried out in several layers. Otherwise, when the diodes are turned on, streaks or uneven processing will be visible. Battery suitable container mounted at a distance of 80 millimeters from the edge of the pipe at the base. You can also install a switch there. The main thing is that these details do not interfere with each other.

Loft chandelier made of pipes

Modern trends in lighting organization often require taking into account not only the efficiency of lamp elements, but also the chandeliers themselves. You can create them yourself from scrap materials, while getting an original and inexpensive design. For example, it is possible to do ceiling lamp from plastic pipes. To do this you will need the following components:

  • Ceiling type socket.
  • 12 branches for sockets and light bulbs.
  • Polymer water pipes.
  • 12 small lamps.
  • A can of special paint.
  • Paper.
  • Ceiling rosette.

The work begins with developing a model of the chandelier and connecting the branches to each other. You can create both a symmetrical design and an original author’s model (it all depends on your imagination). Next, lay out the paper on which the painting process will take place. Paint on all sides and leave the lamp to dry. The ceiling rosette is painted with visible side. If necessary, the chandelier can be sprayed again. Then all that remains is to connect the structure to the ceiling using screws and a flange, and also screw in the lamps. Check the design and enjoy a unique product. By the way, if you get tired of the configuration of the lamp, it can be transformed into a different style in a few minutes.

Adjustable Table Lamp: Initial Manufacturing Process

This DIY pipe lamp is distinguished by the fact that it can be adjusted in reach and height. Many replacement parts are available to find at home, so it is also economical and also custom.

Materials used:

  • Bicycle star.
  • Pair metal pipes with half-inch thread (length - 450 mm).
  • Flange.
  • Fitting.
  • Two elbows at 45 and 90 degrees.
  • Two copper tubes by ¾.
  • Socket.
  • Polymer bushing.
  • Electrical cable.

The bicycle sprocket will serve as the base. Holes for the flange are drilled in its center, after which it is painted. Then an iron pipe is screwed into the flange. The upper part of the element is attached to the base of the lamp, and the second part with a larger diameter is installed in such a way that a sliding effect appears. This will allow you to recline top part structures by moving the top tube.

Final part

To fix the pipe, a hole is drilled in the lower compartment for the fixing screw. A pipe with a diameter of ¾ is soldered, which will allow for alignment and also obtain original look. As a stopper, you can use a ¼ bolt, which is attached to the outer handle of the faucet. The lampshade can be made using one of the methods described above, attaching it with screws and painting it with copper or gold paint.

The rubber bushing is mounted in the opposite end of the fitting, after which the end of the wire is cut off and pulled inside the pipe to the cartridge. The lamp is screwed into the socket, around which the casing is clamped. A similar lamp made from water pipes will make it possible to provide required quantity light at different conditions. At the same time, its cost is minimal.

Lighting devices in the loft style are not just a tribute to fashion, but also a practical, economical solution for basic or additional lighting. Let's consider how to make lamps from pipes on your own, what are the main features of working with the material, and what the process of assembling them will look like with my own hands how to make a hanging chandelier from metal pipes, a wall lamp from metal-plastic, table lamp and couplings, as well as what difficulties may arise.

Today anyone can make their own lamps based on metal, plastic and metal-plastic pipes. To do this, you need to acquire patience, a desire to achieve the planned result, a set suitable materials and tools and strictly follow the instructions. There are many advantages to such homemade products:

  1. Low cost of the product.
  2. Ease of use with a standard threaded connection.
  3. Possibility to create any design.
  4. Wide access to materials (parts can be bought at a construction market, second-hand metal shop, or simply found).

Of the processing features of the pipe materials used when creating lamps, the following nuances must be taken into account:

  1. All elements connected by thread must have the same standard and similar characteristics (pitch, diameter, direction).
  2. Metal-plastic pipes should bend well under force, and their surface should melt during heat treatment (also polypropylene analogues are most often suitable for this role).
  3. If the product is not planned to be painted, then it is better to use galvanized, stainless, copper or brass materials as a basis.
  4. The metal body of the lamps easily conducts electricity, so when installing 220V light bulbs on them, they must be grounded.
  5. The shape of metal-plastic lamps is set through bends, and for cast iron and metal lamps - with the help of all kinds of adapters, pipe sections and fittings.

To facilitate and speed up the process of assembling such lighting devices, manufacturing is best carried out in accordance with the following algorithm:

  1. Make a drawing/sketch indicating all elements, their sizes, characteristics.
  2. Before assembly, paint and dry all components and materials that require this, or decorate the surfaces in accordance with the design ideas.
  3. Assemble the lamp strictly according to the drawn up plan.
  4. Install wiring and light bulbs.
  5. Secure the lighting device, check its serviceability by connecting it to the network.

Important! One of the most important indicators of the operation of a lamp with a metal body is electrical safety. Therefore, for those who do not have experience in electrical installation procedures, it is better to consult with an experienced specialist in this field before starting assembly. For internal wiring, you need to use a thick conductor with good electrical insulation and position it so that it does not rub against the edges of the pipes, the sharp edges of which must be removed using abrasive materials. In addition, whenever possible, it is better not to place the junction points of the cores inside such a structure; in extreme cases, reliably isolate them.

Hanging chandelier made of pipes

Let's consider one of the simplest options for assembling a pendant chandelier based on brass or copper pipes. To make such a lamp you will need:

  1. Five pear-shaped light bulbs.
  2. Ten pipe sections - two sets of 5 of the same length - short and long.
  3. One segment maximum length as a ceiling hanger.
  4. Five adjustable brass hinges.
  5. Set of 5 ceramic light bulb sockets.
  6. Double wire (selected so that it fits easily into the tubes).
  7. A coil of electrical cable.
  8. Insulating tape.
  9. Electrical installation tool.

Installation instructions

When making such a lamp, you need to follow the following step-by-step instructions:

  • install the wiring by unscrewing the covers on the sockets and connecting the wires to them, as shown in the image below;

  • pass internal wiring from the cartridge through the pipes, connect long and short sections using hinges;
  • tighten the wiring and cut it off, leaving about 5 cm for connecting to the main cable;
  • screw the cartridge into the edge of the tube section, which will be located at the bottom of the structure;

  • screw long sections of pipe into a 5-pin fitting, thereby assembling the base of the lamp;
  • twist the wires coming out of the pipes white with a wire of the same shade of the main cable, black - by analogy;

  • Carefully insert the resulting twist with the main cable into the pipe on which the lamp will be attached to the ceiling surface;

  • the chandelier is hung on a chain or mounting wire in its place, the bulbs are screwed in, the network is connected and the functionality of the assembled lamp is checked

Wall lamp made of flexible metal-plastic

To independently assemble a wall lamp from metal-plastic pipes, you will need the following components:

  1. A set of metal-plastic pipes with lengths from 20 to 50 cm.
  2. A wood base or a piece of thick-walled plywood or other similar material.
  3. Wiring.
  4. Cartridges and lamps for them, as well as fittings of a suitable size.
  5. Metal saw or pipe cutter for metal-plastic.
  6. Screws, Phillips screwdriver or screwdriver.
  7. Paper, paint, decorative materials.
  8. Silicone sealant.

Manufacturing instructions

The process of making a wall lamp from pipes is as follows:

  1. A fragment of plywood or solid wood is adjusted to the shape intended by the design, painted or decorated.
  2. A hole is drilled in it (or several, depending on the number of tubes and light bulbs for them), with a diameter similar to a piece of metal-plastic pipe.
  3. This segment is inserted into it and sits on glue or sealant.
  4. After drying and fixing, two-wire wiring is passed into it.
  5. From the free end the segment is fitted.
  6. If the fitting is threaded, you can select the appropriate threaded cartridge for it. If not, the latter can simply be glued to the sealant, having previously connected it to the conductors.
  7. Next, the finished lamp is attached to the wall surface with screws or dowels.
  8. The light bulb is screwed in, the wiring is connected to the network and checked.
  9. As a decorative element for a fitting with a socket, you can choose a floor lamp, lampshade or sconce elements that are suitable in size to improve its design.

The main advantage of the lamp is metal-plastic pipe– the ability to change the direction of the light flux due to its slight bending.

Coupling table lamp

To make your own lamp from couplings you will need the following components:

  1. Short and long nipple - just a couple of pieces.
  2. Six couplings (angles).
  3. Six shortened nipples for connecting them.
  4. Three tees for water supply.
  5. Cord with plug and switch.
  6. Hot glue device.
  7. Insulating tape.
  8. Drill and other installation tools.

The scope of application of such a pipe lamp is quite wide - for primary or additional illumination of the work area of a table, workbench and any other place (due to the compactness of the lighting device).

Build process

Detailed manufacturing instructions table lamp from the couplings looks like this:

  • before starting work, all pipe sections, couplings and connections are cleaned with a household cleaner, for example, white spirit, stickers are removed and then dried;
  • in order to bring the wires to the connection point in the lamp, it is necessary to temporarily disconnect the wire from the switch;

  • then a cartridge of suitable size is inserted into the coupling. You can secure it either using a thread, or by placing it on glue, using a gun, after first connecting it to the wiring;

Not every connoisseur of the loft style can afford to live in a real former workshop, if only because there are not enough abandoned factories for everyone. But the decor in industrial style quite accessible. Moreover, you can do it yourself.

To write today’s material, we went to a recent event in Moscow loft picnic Pallet and under the supervision of the craftsmen from The Sarai, they assembled their first lamp from pipes and sawn wood. We share with you the subtleties and secrets!

You will need:

  • Fittings for cast iron or steel pipes: couplings, tees, bends, barrels, angles (including transitions), threaded flange.
  • Cartridge with thread and wiring.
  • Wire with plug and switch.
  • Heat-shrink tubing.
  • Drill with regular and feather drills.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Decorative incandescent light bulb.
  • Wood cut.

Step 1

Gather everything you need for the rack. Make sure that the parts match the threads. Required elements: a flange to screw the structure to the saw cut, and a transition angle into the wide part of which you will insert the cartridge (we, however, used a coupling).

Step 2

When all the parts are found, go in search of a suitable socket with wiring. Ideally, the cartridge should have a thread that matches the angle/coupling, but you can take a smooth one if it fits tightly enough into the cavity.

Step 3

Prepare the base: drill holes in the cut for the wire (as in the photo): expand the vertical bottom with a feather drill and make a horizontal exit. Pull the wire through the holes.

Step 4

Start assembling the lamp stand. Pull the wire with the switch from the side of the base, and the wiring from the cartridge - from opposite side. Connect the wires and finally twist all the parts.

Important!Since the lamp is metal, the wires must be connected and insulated as reliably as possible. Instead of using traditional electrical tape, use heat-shrink tubing to secure each of the two wires together first, then insulate them together again. The tube is shrinked with a hot air gun, but at home you can try using a lighter.

Step 5

Place the lamp stand on the saw cut and mark where it will be attached to the screws. Use a thin drill to make holes in these places. Using a screwdriver or screwdriver, screw the pipe structure to the cut.
