Heating system piping. Scheme of piping for a gas heating boiler and its elements. General rules for the installation of gas equipment

A heating boiler is a device in which fuel is burned and a heat transfer fluid is heated. Heat still needs to be supplied to the water circuits of radiators, underfloor heating, boiler, etc. Here, a piping diagram for a gas heating boiler is absolutely necessary - everything that connects it to appliances in the premises.

Purpose of strapping

  1. Maintaining a stable coolant pressure in the system.
  2. Removing air from the liquid that interferes with its circulation. When an air lock forms, the passage of water through this place stops. Air vents are installed in the correct scheme.
  3. Cleaning the coolant from contamination. Mechanical impurities impair the performance of the equipment. In this regard, it is necessary to install filters for cleaning.
  4. Compensation of liquid thermal expansion. To prevent the liquid from destroying the system with excessive pressure, a tank is installed to compensate for the expansion.
  5. Connecting one or more circuits to the system.
  6. Hot water accumulation when the boiler is connected.

The simplest circuit with one circuit

The simplest piping scheme for a gas heating boiler is drawn up in accordance with its characteristics and requirements.

The piping also includes a gas connection to the burner.

Tying a gas heating boiler: diagram, photo

The simplest single-loop system is designed according to its characteristics and requirements. A check valve and a ball valve are installed on the supply side.

A pump is installed on the return or delivery pipe to create fluid circulation, which ensures uniform distribution of the coolant throughout the rooms. A strainer is connected in front of it, located downward with a sump. It is advisable to install a fine filter before the liquid enters the boiler.

Closer to the boiler, a closed-type expansion tank is installed. It contains a membrane that allows you to relieve excess pressure during thermal expansion of the liquid.

After the pump, the coolant flows through the circuit to the radiators. More modern is the decoupling through the collector - a special water collector, from which the liquid is dispensed along several circuits. It is placed in a separate cabinet, from which the coolant is distributed through pipelines.

The piping diagram of a gas heating boiler contains a safety valve. When the coolant boils from overheating, the expansion tank may not be able to cope with the pressure surge. The consequences can be as follows:

  • pipeline breaks and connection leaks;
  • destruction of fittings and pipes;
  • explosion of the boiler capacity.

They are installed as close as possible to the boiler, because the pressure begins to rise in it.

On some units, safety groups are installed, consisting of a relief valve and a pressure gauge. The devices are mounted directly into the boiler water jacket, but can also be installed on pipelines. On gas and electric boilers, these devices can be replaced with others, where, when the critical temperature of the liquid is reached, the burners or electric heaters are turned off.

There are many options for equipment for boilers, but the classification is based on the division into natural and forced circulation.

Natural circulation

The principle of operation is based on reducing the specific gravity of water when heated. The hot liquid is displaced upward by the cold one, passes through the heating devices, gives off some of the heat and returns to the boiler for heating.

Installation of supply and discharge pipes is carried out with an inclination of at least 3 0, so that natural circulation occurs and less air accumulates in the system.

With natural circulation, the piping of a gas heating boiler (diagram below) is done so that the radiators are located above the supply pipeline.

The return flow also goes from above with a slope. With proper installation and selection of pipe diameters, natural circulation is almost as powerful as forced circulation.

Advantages of the method:

  • simplicity of the system;
  • ease of installation;
  • noiselessness of work;
  • durability.

The system is suitable for heating a small house with a total floor area of no more than 100 m 2. The disadvantages include the duration of the heating of the premises and the impossibility of temperature regulation in individual rooms.

The gravity circuit is used mostly in small houses and in the country, with only one heating circuit. Numerous pipes spoil the interior if they are not hidden in the walls.

Forced circulation

The method is most widespread, since the pump intensively pumps the heat carrier through the system and the heating efficiency increases by 30%.

The advantages also include the ability to control temperature and low pipe consumption during installation. The system will still cost significantly more because it is more complex and requires more instruments. The installed elements require balancing, and the entire system needs regular maintenance. In addition, a source of electricity is needed.

If you install a combined system, it will combine the advantages of both previous ones. It can be switched to any mode using a bypass installed with the pump. At the same time, the work of heating will not depend on the supply of electricity to the house.

Polypropylene strapping

Plastic pipes have replaced metal pipes everywhere, including for water pipes. For heating, multi-layer reinforced products that can withstand high pressure are used. Thanks to soldered connections, a monolithic piping of a gas heating boiler with polypropylene is obtained. Schemes are created of any complexity and in a short time.

Important! The simpler, the more reliable it is, and the performance is higher.

In contrast to the coolant, gas is connected to the boiler through a metal pipe with a seal hermetically sealed and does not burn.

Connecting a floor gas heating boiler: diagram

The dimensions of a conventional floor-standing boiler are small, but a lot of space is required to install it together with the piping. All equipment, including a circulation pump, elbows, bushings, a manifold, taps and instruments, is difficult to place compactly.

Most models are single-circuit, and hot water requires a boiler with all connections.

The hot water supply system requires a separate pump (in the absence of central water supply), and a thermostatic mixer.

The gas must be connected to the boiler correctly. For this, project documentation is ordered, which is drawn up by specialists. The gas pipe is entered into the house if there is a shutdown device in the event of an emergency. Gas is connected by special services using special pipes, hoses and other equipment.

Wall-hung boiler installation

Boilers can be hung on the wall even in the kitchen. They take up little space. The piping of a wall-mounted gas heating boiler (diagram below) is included in the kit and can even be built into the boiler. The compact layout of the equipment requires less space, but these models are more difficult to maintain.

The disadvantage of wall-hung boilers is their low power. In addition, the devices do not work without electricity, and the natural circulation of the coolant is rarely used for them. On the other hand, almost all boilers are already equipped with electronics and electricity is needed for them. In places with its unstable supply, you can install an uninterruptible power supply.

In most wall-mounted models, a piping of a double-circuit gas heating boiler is provided, the circuit of which allows you to supply the house with hot water.

The disadvantage of the double-circuit version is the shutdown of heating during hot water consumption. This is especially noticeable when the boiler output is low. If it is enough, the temperature of the coolant decreases by only a few degrees in a couple of hours. This applies to houses with high-quality thermal insulation and a sufficient number of radiators with thermal inertia.

Conclusion

The piping diagram of a gas heating boiler is drawn up in accordance with its characteristics and requirements. A natural circulation system through one circuit is suitable for a summer residence, and for a large house - with a forced and multi-circuit.

To properly install the gas unit, you should study the piping diagrams of the floor-standing gas boiler. Depending on the characteristics of the heating device: the number of circuits, the presence of a connection to electricity, the installation of additional systems, the diagrams may differ.

Consider what elements the piping of a floor gas heating boiler can include.

Expansion tank

A diaphragm expansion tank is required to compensate for the increased volume of water or antifreeze when they are heated. This element is divided into two parts by a membrane, one of which is filled with air or nitrogen. With an increase in the volume of the coolant, the gas is compressed, due to which the pressure in the heat exchanger does not significantly increase.

Note! The volume of the expansion tank must be at least 10% of the amount of the coolant.

Safety valve

The purpose of the safety valve is to dump the excess coolant with a large increase in pressure in the circuit in order to prevent rupture of pipes of heating systems. Excess fluid is discharged through the drainage tube into the sewer. If the valve operates frequently, this indicates an insufficient size of the diaphragm expansion vessel.

Pressure gauge

A pressure gauge is required to monitor the operating pressure in the circuit. Sometimes a thermomanometer is used instead, which measures not only pressure, but also temperature. The scale of such a device should reach at least 4 atmospheres.

Air vent

The air vent is designed to discharge air masses into the environment that remained after draining the coolant. The remaining air creates noise and acts as an obstacle to the normal circulation of the coolant.

Circulation pump

The pump ensures the circulation of the coolant forcibly. Its power can be changed, thereby adjusting the flow rate of the liquid in the heat exchanger.

Indirect heating boiler

A boiler is required to provide hot water in the required volume. It is a heat-insulating tank that stores heated water.

Hydrostrel

Hydrostrelka is a container with branch pipes to which you can connect several circuits that combine supply and return. This element allows you to connect pipes in which the liquid has a different circulation rate and temperature.

Coarse filter

This element is a reservoir with a filter mesh for cleaning water from coarse debris. The filter protects the heat exchanger tube from clogging.

Pipes

Many are interested in the question of which pipes can be used to strap a floor-standing gas boiler. The temperature in the circuit usually does not exceed 80 ° C, and in the underfloor heating system it does not exceed 35 ° C. The pressure is at the level of 1-2.5 kgf / cm2. When the pump is stopped, boiling of the coolant is excluded, since after a few seconds the burner stops working and the flame goes out. Based on the existing working conditions, polymer and metal-polymer pipes, the cost of which is much lower than durable copper or galvanized counterparts, are quite suitable for piping a floor gas heating boiler.

Recommendations for the implementation of piping a floor boiler

The floor-standing boiler must not be located at the highest point of the heating system. Otherwise, non-observance of this condition will lead to the accumulation of air masses in the pipes, which will negatively affect the quality of heating. The supply pipe without a venting device leaving the boiler must be vertical.

The sequential wiring of the radiators and the connection of the gas unit to the communications are performed using metal-plastic on press fittings or polypropylene with aluminum reinforcement. However, fittings are sensitive to the quality of installation and, when the seals are loose, they begin to leak quite quickly. Polypropylene pipes are more reliable and have many advantages:

  • allow you to create a system of any complexity;
  • are not afraid of exposure to high temperatures;
  • have a long service life;
  • no plaque reducing the diameter settles on the pipe walls;
  • withstand high pressure.

The polypropylene strapping of the floor-standing gas boiler is carried out by soldering, which allows the system to be solid.

Note! The creation of a heating system with many bends is not desirable, as this reduces the efficiency of the unit and complicates installation. The number of connections should also be kept to a minimum.

Features of the piping of the gas pipe

According to construction requirements, the connection of the gas line to the boiler must be rigid and ensured by means of a metal pipe and joining through a metal clamp or "American". For tightness it is allowed to use only paronite gasket. It is prohibited to use rubber or tow.

Wiring diagrams for floor-standing gas boilers

Depending on the design of the unit, as well as the connected additional systems, the piping schemes for gas boilers may differ. Let's take a closer look at the most common options.

Connection of a single-circuit volatile boiler

Volatile floor-standing gas boilers with forced circulation of the coolant are usually equipped with all the necessary parts: an expansion tank, a circulation pump, a pressure gauge, etc. Such a system is the most flexible in management. You can program a separate temperature for each room, and the automation will maintain this mode constantly.

It is worth considering that a volatile system cannot work without electricity. In addition, to extend its service life, it will be necessary to purchase a voltage stabilizer.

The piping of a single-circuit floor-standing gas boiler includes the following connections:

  • gas main;
  • supply to the heating system;
  • return from radiators.

Connection of a single-circuit non-volatile boiler

Independent of electricity, floor-standing gas boilers do not have a circulation pump, and the coolant in such a system moves only according to the laws of physics. In this case, it is easier to do the piping of a floor gas boiler with your own hands, however, in order for such a system to work effectively, many nuances should be taken into account:

  • the boiler must be located as low as possible - in a pit or basement;
  • in front of the heat exchanger of the unit, it is useful to build a discharge into the sewer - this will be needed for a long trip;
  • any metal or plastic container connected to the filling can be used as an open expansion tank;
  • the tank should be installed at the top of the heating system;
  • the inner diameter of the pipe must not be less than 32 mm.

When installing pipes, they should be installed with a slight slope to the vertical in order to ensure free circulation of the coolant. The difference in height between the heat exchanger of the unit and the heating radiators provides a hydraulic head that makes the coolant move.

If desired, such a system can be supplemented with a pump, while it does not require an electrical connection. It is cut in parallel to the spill system, and a ball valve is mounted between the tie-ins.

Single-circuit unit with hot water supply

The piping of a single-circuit gas boiler capable of producing hot water additionally includes an indirect heating boiler. The water in it is heated from the coolant of the main circuit. It turns out that it goes through two schemes: a large one - through the heating system, a small one - through a boiler. Each of the two circuits is equipped with shut-off valves, which makes it possible to turn off each of them independently of the other.

An indirect heating boiler is connected to a small circulation loop through a three-way valve. Immediately after it, a tap is placed between the supply and return. This allows you to use warm water in the summer, when there is no need for heating.

Scheme of piping a floor-standing double-circuit boiler

The double-circuit floor-standing gas boiler is equipped with two heat exchangers: the main one for heating, the second one for providing hot water supply. Both are flowing. The hot water supply circuit begins to heat only when the tap is turned on, so overheating and pressure increase in it are excluded - an expansion tank is not needed in this case.

In addition to piping connections for a single-circuit heating system, the scheme of a double-circuit boiler provides for the connection of cold water to the inlet pipe of the DHW heat exchanger, and to the outlet pipe, distributing hot water through the mixers.

It is recommended to install a coarse filter on the cold water supply pipeline to the DHW circuit, as well as embed ball valves at the inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger.

Strapping a floor-standing gas boiler with underfloor heating

If you plan to connect underfloor heating to the gas heating system, then it should be borne in mind that in heating radiators the coolant heats up to 80ºC, and in the "warm floor" system - up to 35ºC. Therefore, they cannot be directly connected. A piping scheme for a floor-standing gas boiler with a hydrocollector, which will equalize pressure and temperature, is suitable here.

Note! Hydraulic levelers are included in the piping schemes for gas boilers with a capacity of 50 kW and more using several circuits.

The finished hydrocollector is connected to the boiler, and then the heating system and "warm floors" are connected to the pipes of the first one. The return from the heating radiators is stabilized in the hydrocollector and, already prepared, is supplied to heat the floors.

High-quality piping of a double-circuit gas boiler - effective savings

The purpose of any heating system is to create a comfortable environment in the house. A favorable microclimate cannot be achieved if the connection of the heating boiler is incorrect. The piping diagrams for gas heating boilers help to connect this device to the water supply system and distribution networks, in accordance with the established rules and technical requirements.

What does boiler piping mean?

If a person has never before faced the need to equip a heat supply system, he is not familiar with the term "piping". This concept means the use of a specific installation scheme that will protect the equipment from possible overheating.

According to experts, a properly executed piping of a gas heating boiler or a device operating on a different type of fuel allows the heating system to work more economically and efficiently.

Heating boiler piping elements

Knowing which elements the piping diagram of a gas heating boiler contains will help to connect the heating equipment to the system without any problems:

  1. Heating boiler... It is one of the main components of the heating structure; the connection method and the piping diagram of the heating boiler largely depend on its choice. The heating boiler must not be placed at the top of the pipework. The rod of the heating circuit must be able to remove air. To avoid the presence of air pockets, if the boiler does not have an air vent, the pipe should be placed vertically.
  2. Branch pipes... This element has gas wall and electrical appliances designed to heat a liquid heat carrier (read also: "Tying an electric heating boiler: an important stage"). The presence of branch pipes means that the boiler is equipped with an automatic air vent.
  3. Expansion tank... This membrane element is used when piping a wall-mounted gas boiler, as well as a floor heating device. Thanks to its presence, the heating generator is reliably protected from water hammer. The expansion tank consists of two cavities, which are separated by a special membrane. This design controls possible pressure drops in the heating boiler. The device functions as follows: a coolant moves along one of the cavities, and at the same time the other cavity is filled with air.
  4. Heating radiators... These devices provide heat exchange between the air in the room and the liquid heat carrier (read also: "Heat transfer between several heat carriers - we do it right").

Features of piping gas boilers

There are several ways how to tie a gas boiler. The most popular option was for piping the heating boiler with polypropylene. Working with pipes made of this material is notable for its low cost and simplicity. Plaque and solid particles do not collect on the walls of polypropylene products. When such pipes are used, do-it-yourself piping of a gas boiler is not difficult; any real estate owner can handle such work.

The piping of boilers, including double-circuit models, is performed by soldering. This method allows you to avoid leaks during operation, in contrast to the use of fittings, when, if they are inaccurately fastened, there are places through which the liquid heat carrier flows (read also: "Diagram of a solid fuel boiler piping: what and how").

Polypropylene piping allows you to create a contour of any shape. Welding of this material is carried out in different ways, the main thing is not to allow a large number of pipe connections, which must be made smooth and uniform. An exception applies to the place where the gas is supplied to the heating boiler. The connection is made by using a rigid threaded connection called "American" (squeeze).

Paronite serves as a gasket. It is forbidden to use tow, fum-tape or accessories made of rubber. The fact is that rubber gaskets under the influence of high temperatures can narrow and, as a result, practically block the passage in the pipeline, and the tow is highly flammable.

A pipeline tied with polypropylene pipes, such as in the photo, is able to withstand pressure up to 25 bar, and high temperatures, reaching 95 degrees Celsius, are also not dangerous for it.

Connection of double-circuit gas boilers

A double-circuit boiler, in contrast to a single-circuit heating device, has a universal purpose. Such a unit for domestic needs heats water and at the same time maintains the required temperature regime in a two-circuit heating system.

The peculiarity of double-circuit boilers is that in the process of consuming hot water, parallel operation of both circuits does not occur.

Do-it-yourself piping of a double-circuit wall-mounted heating boiler

This means that the piping of a wall-mounted double-circuit gas boiler does not depend on the type of heating and is always the same. Due to the large size of the pipes, radiators and coolant cool for a long time.

There is one more feature: if a double-circuit gas boiler is piped, then the natural circulation of water cannot be used. Many models have a special pump in the kit, because without it, after the generator stops heating, the movement of the coolant stops and the installation starts to reheat, which takes much longer and as a result, the radiators begin to unevenly heat the room (read: gas boiler ").

Gas boiler piping schemes

If the piping of a gas boiler is carried out in the classical way, the coolant moves up the supply pipeline. Further, the water is directed into the risers, which have special devices that do not allow them to be opened.

The heating level is regulated by radiators equipped with a throttle and jumpers (read also: "Piping heating radiators with polypropylene - simple and affordable"). Without fail, a shut-off valve is mounted on the second line of the supply, and an air vent is placed in the upper part of the expansion tank. The coolant returns to the boiler along the lower line of the supply.

When the piping of a double-circuit gas boiler is carried out by the owner of the house on his own, you need to prepare the following tools and accessories for the work:

  • circulation pump;
  • thermal head or control valve;
  • expansion tank;
  • drain and ball valves;
  • in-line filter;
  • balancing crane;
  • non-return and air valves;
  • corners and tee.

Wiring diagrams for floor-standing boilers

As the piping diagram of a floor-standing gas boiler suggests, when creating a heating system, the installation of a circular electric pump is required (read: "Connection diagram for a gas heating boiler for examples").

Forced-type devices are easy to use and are considered more comfortable to operate.

The heating unit is controlled in automatic mode. Among the advantages, it should be noted that a certain temperature can be set for individual rooms, thanks to the presence of sensors that control the heating process.

At the same time, the piping scheme for a wall-mounted gas boiler has negative sides, including:

  • high price for components;
  • the complexity of the implementation of the strapping, which can only be performed by a professional;
  • the need for constant balancing of parts;
  • high cost of service.

If the house is equipped with a complex heat supply system, for example, there is a "warm floor" and batteries, then when the coolant moves, you may notice some kind of inconsistency. Therefore, to solve the problem, a hydraulic decoupling is included in the piping scheme, which forms several circuits for the movement of heat carriers - general and boiler.

For waterproofing each circuit, an additional heat exchanger is installed. This is required to combine open and closed systems. Installations of a separate type must be equipped with circular pumps, a security system and taps (drain and make-up).

How to connect a gas boiler, in detail on the video:

Wiring diagrams for wall-mounted boilers

The piping of a floor-standing gas boiler and other types of heating devices can be simplified by using primary-secondary rings. There will be fewer all kinds of devices designed to control the operation of the system if you make several rings of the heating system and install its own circulation pump for each of them. Thanks to such measures, a uniform supply of hot heat carrier to the end consumer is ensured.

The piping scheme for a double-circuit device is complex. A reasonable solution is to contact a specialized gas organization. Its employees will quickly connect the equipment to the gas supply system.

  4. Gas connection

Introduction

The efficiency and safety of the gas boiler operation largely depends on its correct connection to the heating system. This process, also called strapping, consists of several stages. Due to the fact that gas is a very dangerous fuel, some work must be carried out by certified employees of gas services, but much can be done with your own hands.

Connecting a wall-mounted gas boiler is a set of works, which includes: piping in the heating system, connecting to a gas and electrical network, installing a chimney. In this article we will try to cover each of the stages.

Gas boiler piping in the heating system

After the wall-mounted gas boiler has been installed and the heater is placed on the wall, the first step is to connect it to the heating system. Depending on which model is installed single-circuit or double-circuit, there are various strapping schemes. We will consider the connection process using the example of a wall-mounted double-circuit gas boiler.

As you know, a double-circuit boiler, in addition to heating, is capable of producing hot water for household needs. Structurally, this is realized by installing one bithermal or two separate heat exchangers. A double-circuit boiler does not produce very much hot water, but it is quite enough for 1-2 points of distribution (for example, a kitchen faucet and a shower).

A modern hinged gas boiler is very compact and already contains inside itself the main elements necessary for the functioning of a forced circulation heating system, such as: a circulation pump, an expansion tank, a security group. In the heating systems of small private country houses, this is more than enough, but if necessary, you can install an additional expansion tank or another pump.

At the bottom of any mounted double-circuit boiler there are 5 nozzles. They are connected to: supply and return lines of the heating system, supply and return of hot water supply, main gas. The gas inlet is usually centered and colored yellow. All other lines can be arranged in any order, depending on the model of the gas boiler. Therefore, before starting the strapping, it is required to clarify the purpose of each of them in the operating instructions.

The piping of a wall-mounted gas boiler is carried out with polypropylene or metal pipes. The cross-section of heating pipes, as a rule, is larger than 3/4 and 1/2 inch DHW pipes, respectively. The heating system is connected to the boiler through the "American" nuts. Ball valves are installed on each line, for the convenience of dismantling the gas boiler without draining the coolant and to isolate the boiler from the heating system, if necessary. To ensure tightness, all connections must be made using plumbing FUM tape or flax.

Coarse filters must be installed in the heating return line and in the DHW supply line. For the convenience of flushing and cleaning, they are also cut off by shut-off valves. Often, in order to increase the service life of the secondary heat exchanger of a double-circuit boiler, a magnetic fine filter is additionally installed on the hot water supply.

Connecting the wall-mounted boiler to the mains

Most modern wall-mounted gas boilers are equipped with sophisticated automation. It controls many processes, turning the heating boiler into an autonomous mini-boiler room, the operation of which practically does not require the intervention of the owner. Obviously, the control unit and the various sensors require a mains connection.

Double-circuit wall-mounted boilers are available in two versions: with the usual socket and with a cable for connecting directly to the machine. In any case, they must be powered from the mains through an individual machine. If you purchased a model with a plug, then an individual outlet for a gas boiler should be located next to it, but not under it. This is one of the safety requirements so that in the event of a coolant leak, a short circuit does not occur.

A gas boiler requires mandatory grounding. For these purposes, you can purchase a point grounding kit. It is installed in the basement or next to the house and occupies a small area of about 0.25 m².

Attention! It is strictly forbidden to ground the wall-mounted gas boiler to the heating radiator or gas supply pipe. This is a gross violation of the rules for operating gas equipment and is extremely dangerous.

Boiler automation is very sensitive to the quality of the supply voltage. With an insufficient level or imperfect sinusoidal shape at the input, the devices quickly fail. To prevent frequent breakdowns and prolong the life of the unit, it is required to connect voltage stabilizers for gas boilers. To avoid stopping heating equipment in the event of power outages, you should additionally purchase an uninterruptible power supply.

Choosing a chimney for a gas boiler

Any wall mounted gas boiler needs a chimney. Depending on the model, it can be either a traditional chimney or a small horizontal chimney that can be led out directly through the wall of the house.

In double-circuit boilers with an open combustion chamber, the combustion process takes place with the help of air from the room in which the heater is installed. Typically, such models are installed in specially equipped boiler rooms. For the removal of combustion products, they are connected to traditional ceramic or stainless steel flue gas boilers.

Wall-hung boilers with a closed combustion chamber (turbocharged) use outside air in their work. It is fed into the device through one of the channels of the coaxial chimney. The second channel is used to discharge flue gases into the atmosphere. The coaxial chimney is very easy to install and you can connect a gas boiler to it with your own hands.

Gas connection

The process of connecting the gas boiler to the gas pipeline must be carried out exclusively by qualified specialists from the gas service or another organization licensed to carry out this type of work.

Independent connection to the gas main is illegal and, at best, threatens the owner of the premises with a considerable fine, and at worst can lead to tragedy.

The first stage in the process of gasification of the facility is contacting the gas service.

We make a reliable piping of the heating boiler with our own hands

After submitting all the necessary documents, individual technical conditions (TU) will be developed for you, the fulfillment of which is necessary to connect to the gas main.

After you have the TU in your hands, you can safely start looking for a certified specialist who, in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory authorities, will design the gas pipeline and connect your heating boiler to it.

Gasification of the premises can be carried out by underground and aboveground methods. For the underground section, corrosion-resistant polyethylene pipes are used, and the above-ground part is made of steel pipes that enter the room directly at the location of the gas heating boiler, at a distance of 1.2-1.5 m from the floor.

Attention! When using several heating devices, the gas supply to each of them is carried out separately. Laying gas lines inside the building is strictly prohibited.

When taking installation work, you should pay special attention to the fact that the sealing of all joints must be done with tow or paint. The use of a sealing tape or FUM is not allowed due to the low degree of tightness of the connection. A gas filter must be installed on the shut-off valve to protect the boiler from small debris and condensation. It is recommended to connect the gas boiler directly to the shut-off valves using steel pipes. It is allowed to use a special corrugated stainless steel hose, but pipes are still preferable, since when using them, the cross section of the gas channel does not decrease.

The service life, work efficiency, as well as the safety of its owner depend on how correctly the wall-mounted gas boiler is connected. We hope that our small overview of the main stages of connection and strapping was useful to you.

What is the optimal connection diagram for heating radiators

The heating system must fulfill its main purpose - to provide efficient heating of an apartment or house. All structural elements should be located in such a way that the heat transfer of the devices is maximized. The connection diagram for heating radiators should take into account a number of nuances, including the required number, length of pipelines, peculiarities of the location and connection of pipes, etc.

It is advisable to carry out the design decision regarding the location of the heating batteries at the preparatory stage. In their own households, two - or one-pipe connection of heating radiators is most often used.

One-pipe heating system

One-pipe heating design assumes that heating radiators will be daisy-chained using one pipe.

It is brought in the direction from the boiler to the first of the devices, then it goes to the second battery, and from it to the third, and so on. The connection diagram for heating radiators with a one-pipe system is quite popular.

There is a so-called improved version of connecting heating radiators according to a one-pipe scheme.

With it, batteries are connected to a one-piece pipe for supplying a hot coolant with the help of two risers - supply and "return". This method allows you to install a thermostatic valve in front of the radiators. The main function of this device is to stop the supply of hot coolant to the batteries after the required air temperature level is reached in the room.

In the first case, with a one-pipe system, the heating radiator connection diagram does not provide for the ability to block the heater without interrupting the water supply to the batteries that follow it. The main advantage of this option is its simplicity and savings in materials and money, which is a significant plus. Among the shortcomings, it should be noted that there is a difference in the degree of heating between the device closest to the boiler and the radiator farthest from it.

If there is a coolant in the natural circulation system, the total length of the structure is not significant. To solve the problem, the installation of a special pump with high performance is required.

If the building has more than one floor, then the one-pipe scheme for connecting heating radiators functions as follows: the hot coolant is fed through the pipe of the straight riser to the uppermost floor, and then moves downward, while passing through each serially connected device (for more details: "How to connect heating radiator - methods and options ").

Unfortunately, this method also has its drawbacks: the battery on the first floor will have less heat transfer than on the upper one. Moreover, it is impossible to influence this disadvantage.

Two-pipe heating system

With a two-pipe heating scheme, a parallel connection of heating radiators is implied. In this case, the coolant is supplied to the batteries through one pipe, and discharged through the other. This option is usually used for heating residential premises in private households and country estates (read: "Two-pipe heating with bottom wiring - diagram and installation"). In this case, the degree of heat transfer for all devices is the same and it can be corrected by installing a thermostat on the straight riser.

Variety of battery wiring diagrams

Today, there are the following types of connecting heating radiators to the central heating system:

  • unilateral lateral;
  • bottom;
  • diagonal;
  • incidentally overlapping method (Tichelman's variant).

One of the important elements of the heating structure when connecting the radiator to the risers (direct and reverse) is the bypass, which is a piece of pipe with a smaller diameter than all others. It connects the supply and "return" to each other and is mounted if there is a thermostat for a heating radiator in the one-pipe circuit.

One-way side connection of radiators

Lateral connection of heating radiators (one-sided) involves the connection of radiators to the direct and return risers using pipes from above and below the same section, as it looks like in the photo (read also: "Riser heating system - device by examples"). Experts recommend connecting the supply to the top of the device, and the return to the bottom.

The fact is that connecting radiators with a lower hot coolant supply leads to a decrease in the degree of heat transfer by about 7%. Lateral one-sided connection of heating batteries is able to provide maximum heating of radiators, provided there are a large number of sections or uniform heating of all heating devices connected in parallel, if they are installed in a high-rise building.

Diagonal connection diagram for heating radiators

Diagonal connection of heating radiators to the heating system provides for the arrangement of pipes from the supply and return pipes on opposite sides of the device. The straight pipe should go to the top of the battery and the return pipe to the bottom. If you do not follow the recommended order, the heating efficiency of the object will decrease by at least 10%.

Diagonal connection of radiators is considered to be the best solution when arranging a heating structure when a large number of batteries are planned to be installed. With this type of connection, the hot coolant is evenly distributed over the inner space of the heater, as for heat loss, in this case, they do not exceed 2% (read also: "One-pipe and two-pipe heating system - make the right choice").

Bottom connection view

Use the bottom connection of heating radiators, if it is necessary to remove all the pipes of the structure to the floor. The connection with the inlet and outlet risers is performed by attaching them to the lower parts of the extreme sections. Heat loss with this installation option reaches 15%, since the upper part of the devices heats up extremely unevenly.

Tichelman connection

The difference between the Tichelman scheme (two-pipe concurrently overlapping battery connection) is the installation of restricting devices in separate sections of the pipes supplying and removing the coolant. For example: there is a 50 mm supply pipe from the boiler. The feed is cut into it to the first of the radiators with a diameter of 20 millimeters. This is followed by a 20 mm branch to the second device. After it, the diameter of the riser is already 32 millimeters. This is followed by another 20mm bend. Further, after the third radiator, the diameter of the riser is 25 millimeters. After the last 20mm tap is the last of the batteries.

The return line is collected according to the mirror scheme. The first device in the structure is connected to the branch riser using a pipe of the smallest diameter, and the last one is the extreme radiator using a 50 mm pipe segment.

Using the Tichelman scheme, even if the heating main is long at such objects as industrial warehouses, huge mansions, it is possible to ensure uniform heating of all batteries, and with minimal heat loss.

Choosing a place for installing radiators

The heating battery should be located so that it not only effectively heats the room, but also prevents the spread of cold air currents through it. Therefore, the traditional place for their installation was the space under the windowsill. In this case, it is necessary to adhere to a certain distance between the wall and the device (3-5 centimeters), as well as the radiator and the floor covering (10 centimeters).

The battery should not be installed completely under the window sill and, if it is very wide, it should be pushed forward a little. If during the heating season the heat from the device is strong, then it is advisable to install a protective decorative screen that will facilitate the uniform movement of warm air.

An important point is the design stage of the heating structure. If the circuit plans to use an electric circulation pump, then problems in the heat supply process usually do not arise. The situation is different in systems with natural circulation, but they are non-volatile.

Tying a gas heating boiler: diagram, elements, installation rules

More and more owners of not only private houses, but also city apartments, not wanting to depend on communal structures, are installing autonomous heating systems in their homes, the "heart" of which is a boiler - a heat generator. But it cannot work by itself. The heating boiler piping diagram is a collection of all auxiliary devices and pipes, which are connected according to a certain scheme and constitute a single circuit.

Why is it necessary

  • Ensuring the circulation of liquid through the system and transfer of thermal energy to the rooms in which heating devices - radiators are installed.
  • Protection of the boiler from overheating, as well as protection of the home from the penetration of natural or carbon monoxide gases into it in the event of emergency situations. For example, loss of burner flame, water leakage, and the like.
  • Maintaining the pressure in the system at the required level (expansion tank).
  • Correctly mounted gas boiler connection diagram (piping) allows it to work stably in optimal mode, which significantly reduces fuel consumption and saves on heating.

The main elements of the circuit

  • Heat generator - boiler.
  • Diaphragm (expansion) tank - expansomat.
  • Pressure regulator.
  • Pipeline.
  • Shut-off valves (taps, valves).
  • Coarse filter - "sump".
  • Connecting (fittings) and fasteners.

Depending on the type of the selected heating circuit (and the boiler), there may be other components in it.

The piping scheme for a double-circuit heating boiler, like a single-circuit one, depends on many factors. These are the capabilities of the unit itself (including its equipment), and the operating conditions, and the features of the system design. But there are also differences that are determined by the principle of movement of the coolant. Since in private homes boilers are used that provide both heat and hot water, consider an example of a classic piping of a two-circuit device with forced circulation of a coolant.

Heating circuit

Water heated in the heat exchanger to the required temperature from the boiler outlet "leaves" through pipes to the radiators, to which it transfers heat energy. The cooled liquid is returned back to the inlet of the heat generator. Its movement is controlled by a circulation pump, which is equipped with almost every unit.

An expansion tank is installed between the last radiator in the chain and the boiler to compensate for possible pressure drops.

How to properly tie a heating boiler circuit

There is also a "mud sump" that protects the heat exchanger from small fractions that can get into the coolant from batteries and pipes (particles of rust and salt deposits).

The cut-in of the pipe for supplying cold water (make-up) is made in the area between the boiler and the first radiator. If it is equipped on the "return", it can cause deformation of the heat exchanger due to the temperature difference between it and the "make-up" liquid.

In order to be able to regulate the temperature in each room individually, water from the boiler outlet is directed to the collector. And already from it, through the shut-off valves, it is divorced from room to room.

DHW circuit

Works as when using a gas water heater. Cold water is supplied to the boiler's DHW inlet from the water supply system, and from the outlet the heated water goes through pipes to the draw-off points.

The piping scheme for wall-mounted boilers is similar.

There are a number of other types.

Gravitational

There is no water pump in it, and the circulation of the liquid occurs due to the temperature difference at the inlet and outlet of the circuit. Such systems are independent of the power supply. An open-type membrane tank (placed at the very top of the route).

With primary-secondary rings

In principle, this is an analogue of the already mentioned comb (collector). Such a scheme is used if it is necessary to heat a large number of rooms and connect the "warm floors" system.

There are others that are not used for private houses. In addition, there may be some additions to the listed ones. For example, a mixer with a servo drive.

The heating boiler plays one of the main roles. The primary task is heating the coolant, and competent piping of the heating boiler is responsible for all other processes. You can do the piping of the heating boiler with your own hands, but before starting work, you need to familiarize yourself with all the nuances of the correct use of materials and schemes.

In the process of piping, various components of the heating and water supply system are connected to the heating boiler. Simply put, the piping is those parts that are located between the heating devices and the boiler. All mechanisms of this system fulfill their role in ensuring its smooth operation. And in addition to generating heat, it must perform several more functions.

  1. Timely coolant compensation.
  2. Removing air from the system.
  3. Disposal and protection from contamination entering the system.
  4. Ensuring the safety of the heating boiler in case of excess pressure in the system.

Strapping methods

The piping can be done in several ways, and the choice is determined by the brand of the boiler. But in terms of functionality, all options are one closed chain of pipes and connections through which the coolant circulates. The movement of fluid in the system can be forced or natural.

A forced circulation system is achieved by installing one or more pumps. They help to use heat energy more efficiently.

In this case, it is necessary to correctly select the pump power in order to provide the necessary resistance in the pipe system.

This is the most common method, but three more options are also used, which are used for different rooms:

  • natural circulation;
  • collector classic;
  • pump circulation;

Now let's talk about the order in which the boiler piping should be carried out.

First, you need to correctly install the heating boiler itself. For this, in the place where it will be located, a foundation is being built for its fastening. It can be made from bricks or clay. Asbestos or an iron sheet is laid on the surface.

The boiler must be correctly positioned so that it is below the level of the radiators. This is especially important if natural circulation is used.

The connection itself must be sealed so that carbon monoxide does not enter the room. For this, a clay solution of a thick consistency is used. If you are using a gas boiler, then a coaxial chimney can be built in.

To seal the chimney, the use of cement mortar is strictly prohibited. Because during operation, it can crack.

Hood installation

A fume hood can be installed to better regulate the air flow. It will provide air inflow and outflow.

Stages of work

The piping of the heating boiler should be carried out according to the classical scheme in order to avoid the use of complex work.

We mount the collector

Before this work, carefully study the sticker on its body. It should contain information about which line is responsible for the supply of the coolant and for the outlet.

A pipe on a 1.25 "manifold connects to the boiler, into which a 1" pipe is inserted. Holes that will not be used are closed with plugs.

The mixing (distribution) valve is installed on the supply pipe. He is responsible for regulating the temperature. If a warm floor is connected to the heating system in your house, then the valve must also be installed in the outlet pipe. With its help, the temperature of the underfloor heating water will be controlled within the required limits.

The pump, which circulates the coolant, is built into the return line. Its installation is possible in two ways.

  1. The first method is direct connection to the manifold.
  2. Second, the connection to the control valve.

At the final stage, pressure and temperature control devices, in-line filters, drain balancing valves, as well as air and safety valves are installed.

Such a piping system is suitable both for boilers with a gas heating method and for those that run on solid fuels.

Assistive devices

Auxiliary devices are also required for the heating system to function.

Air vent

These are various types of devices that help remove air pockets from the system. During the operation of the boiler, small pressure drops can occur, as a result of which the air, which is forced into the upper part of the system, can disturb the circulation. This will affect the heat dissipation of the entire system.

Of all the variety of air vents, it is best to choose an automatic one. By installing such an air vent, you will forget about air congestion, because it will independently release the air that accumulates in the system.

Sump

For piping heating boilers with natural water circulation, the installation of such devices is not required. Gas and solar boilers are not very fond of pollution. They are equipped with thin heat exchanger ducts and a dirt-sensitive impeller. In such cases, the installation of a sump is simply necessary.

Emergency piping scheme

Regardless of the method of piping the heating boiler you choose, you need to provide for an emergency operation scheme. This will ensure uninterrupted operation even in the event of an abnormal situation, such as a power outage.

We bring to your attention the owner's story about self-piping of the boiler.

The main goal of any heating system is to make the microclimate in the house favorable and comfortable. In order for the heat to be evenly distributed throughout the apartment, you need to correctly organize the connection diagram for the water heater. The piping diagram for a double-circuit gas boiler will help to connect the equipment to the water supply system and distribution networks in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Basic elements of the boiler piping

To figure out how to properly connect heating equipment, you need to understand what elements are included in the piping.

  1. Boiler. The type of boiler largely determines the choice of piping and connection method. Under no circumstances should the boiler be placed in the upper part of the piping layout. The heating circuit rod must have all the necessary conditions for air outlet. In the event of any irregularities, the unit can create air locks. If the boiler does not have an air vent, then the pipe must be placed strictly vertically.
  2. Branch pipes. This element is inherent in gas wall and electric installations. The presence of branch pipes indicates the existence of an automatic air vent. When connecting equipment, it is worth keeping this in mind, since some monoblocks cope with the air outlet themselves.
  3. Diaphragm expansion tank - this element is necessary when piping any gas boiler. It protects the heating generator from water hammer. Outwardly, it consists of two cavities, which are separated by a special membrane. They also control possible pressure drops in the boiler. They work as follows: the coolant moves along one cavity, in the other cavity at this moment the process of filling with air takes place.
  4. Radiators. These elements are necessary for heat exchange between air and heat carrier.

Subtleties of piping gas boilers

The piping of a gas and solid fuel boiler is done in different ways. The most popular is the polypropylene method. Working with polypropylene products is famous for its lightness and low cost. Due to the special characteristics of the material used, deposits do not form on the pipe stacks. And the strapping processes are very simple, even an unprepared person can handle them.

The piping of boilers, including double-circuit ones, is done by soldering. This eliminates the possibility of leaks, which could have formed, for example, due to inaccurate placement of fittings.

The polypropylene pipeline will allow you to create any contour, and the piping scheme will be simple and understandable. Welding of polypropylene can be done in different ways. The main rule is to avoid a lot of pipe connections.

It is equally important that all joints should be as smooth and uniform as possible. The only thing is, in the place where gas will be supplied to the boiler, you need to make a rigid connection "drive" or "American."

Only paronite should be used as a gasket. In no case should you use fum tape, tow or rubber components. These materials are highly flammable, and rubber parts at high temperatures shrink and reduce the pipe diameter, resulting in fuel failure.

The pipeline, which is tied with polypropylene pipes, can withstand high pressure - up to 25 bar. He is not afraid of high temperatures - the maximum value is 95 degrees Celsius.

Features of connecting double-circuit gas boilers

The principle of operation of double-circuit boilers is simple - heat energy is given to water directly. A feature of double-circuit boilers is that the coolant does not heat up when hot water is consumed, that is, the parallel operation of two circuits is excluded. Accordingly, the piping of a wall-mounted double-circuit gas boiler is the same and does not depend on the type of heating. The radiator and coolant take a very long time to cool. This is explained by the large size of the pipes.

As for the features of connecting double-circuit boilers, you should know that its combination with a natural circulation system is excluded. After the generator stops heating, the movement of water will stop. If the unit starts reheating, it takes much longer, plus the radiator begins to distribute heat unevenly. Therefore, many models include a circulation pump.

Strapping schemes

Do-it-yourself piping of a gas heating boiler is most often performed according to the classical method. That is, first, the water begins to move up the supply pipeline. Further, the coolant enters the risers, where special devices are installed that do not completely open the riser.

The heat level is regulated by radiators, which include a choke and jumpers. It is imperative to install a shut-off valve on the second supply line, and place an air vent in the upper part of the expansion tank circuit. The coolant is already returning back at the lower level of the supply line.

To complete the piping of a double-circuit boiler yourself, it is necessary to prepare some devices that will be needed in the process of work:

  • thermal head or valve for distribution;
  • internal circulation pump;
  • taps: drain and ball valves;
  • expansion tank;
  • balancing crane;
  • in-line filter;
  • fasteners;
  • valves: check and air.
  • tee and corners.

Usually this method is used in simple heating systems of small apartments and houses.

The peculiarity of such heating units is that the control is automatic. For individual rooms, you can select an individual temperature regime; the system's sensors fully control this process.

However, such a strapping scheme also has its negative sides, namely:

  • high cost of components;
  • a complex strapping scheme that is beyond the power of an ordinary person - a layman;
  • high prices for service;
  • constant balancing of parts.

If your house has a very complex heating system, for example, there is a “warm floor” and radiators, then a certain inconsistency arises in the movement of the coolant. Therefore, a hydraulic decoupling must be included in the piping scheme. It forms several circuits of water movement - general and boiler.

To waterproof the circuits with each other, an additional heat exchanger is used. This is necessary if you combine closed and open systems. Such installations of a separate type must have their own circulation pump, feed and drain taps, and a security system.

Common mistakes when piping a gas boiler

A large boiler heats up the water faster, which means it uses more fuel. This is also worth keeping in mind when buying and connecting gas equipment. Pay particular attention to monitoring the pressure level in the expansion vessel. An incorrectly sized tank can also negatively affect the operation of the entire system as a whole.

The piping scheme for a double-circuit boiler is not an easy task. The best solution would be to contact a specialized gas service, whose employees will quickly connect the unit to the gas supply system.
