How to remove old protective film from plastic. How to clean plastic windows from protective film? a way to remove old film from plastic windows

The renovation is complete, the windows have brand new double-glazed windows, the builders have put the openings in order. It would seem that you can safely wait until winter to check whether PVC windows are as good as they say. But you are completely wrong to think that you have gotten rid of all your problems. All windows are covered protective layer, and you will have to tear it off. We will talk about how to remove the film from a plastic window if it cannot be removed.

Why is this film needed?

Why don’t the craftsmen who install PVC windows peel off this film themselves? The fact is that the installation of double-glazed windows usually does not end the repair, but only just begins. This is followed by repair of the openings, or even the entire room. In addition, glass can be scratched during transportation and during installation. To avoid all these troubles, protective material is glued on.

The instructions say that the protection needs to be removed from the plastic windows no later than ten days after installation. It is best to do this, because otherwise you will not have to remove it with a slight movement of your hand, but will have to solve a much more complex issue - how to tear off the film from plastic windows.

Important! It is necessary to remove not only the film, but also the adhesive layer, which always remains on the profile.

What does the film consist of?

Before you think about the question of how to remove the protective film from PVC windows, you need to know what you have to deal with. Then it will be easier to choose cleaning methods. The protective material has:

  • the outer layer, which is usually removed without difficulty;
  • inner layer;
  • an adhesive strip that is tightly attached to the profile.

Important! The inner layer is so capricious that it melts even from the spring sun.

How to clean plastic windows from old film mechanically?

For the mechanical cleaning method you will need:

Option 1

You will have to act very carefully so as not to scratch the profile. The protective material comes off more easily if it is properly heated. This is why you need a hairdryer - you can take a household one, but it’s better if you have an industrial one, which in some construction stores are available for rent. Having prepared everything you need, get to work to remove the film from plastic windows:

  1. Warm up the surface with a hairdryer so that the protection swells. In this case, a stream of hot air should not hit the PVC profile - it can be extremely sensitive to high temperatures.
  2. Pry the edge of the film with a sharp object - it should come off easily.
  3. Remove the adhesive strip with a solvent.

Important! Remove with a knife or blade evenly and quickly so that the material does not have time to cool. Otherwise, the result may be the opposite; the film not only will not come off, but will stick even more strongly.

Option 2

This method is good if the windows face the shady side. Make a soap solution, wet the brush and wash away all the protective coating, centimeter by centimeter.

Important! A metal brush cannot be used for this work.

Option 3

The film can be removed from plastic windows using a regular school eraser. True, this process is labor-intensive, so in this way it is better to remove small fragments remaining, for example, after removing it with a knife.

Option 4

A construction scraper for cleaning ceramic and glass surfaces perfectly removes such protective material. You can buy one at a hardware store.

Important! The advantage of this method is that the scraper does not scratch the plastic.

How to remove film chemically?

This method is more gentle than mechanical. There is much less danger of scratching your precious plastic. In addition, using solvents you can remove even thoroughly adhered fragments of the coating. There are quite a few chemical methods, how to remove film from plastic windows if it cannot be removed.

Suitable for the procedure:

  • “Cosmofen”;
  • White Spirit;
  • any other solvent.

Option 1

Perfect for removing protection special remedy"Cosmofen". You can buy it from the same company that installed your PVC windows. There are several varieties of this drug. It is best to buy it from those who installed the windows, since a reputable company selects related products specifically for the material from which the main products are made.

Option 2

Excellent cleaning product PVC material- White Spirit. But remember that it does not dissolve the film, but separates it from the window. Therefore, you will need some kind of sharp object, like a blade or knife:

  1. Pry up the edge protective coating.
  2. Pour white spirit into the gap formed.
  3. Remove the film.

Option 3

You can try using a solvent. The method is not very reliable, but sometimes it gives good results. Not every solvent is suitable, and it is better to first test it somewhere in an inconspicuous area.

How to wash plastic windows?

After the protective coating has been cleaned, it is best to wash the window. Mild detergents are suitable for cleaning the profile - do not forget to look at the markings at the hardware store. There are special cleaning products for such products, but those designed for ceramic surfaces are also suitable.

Important! It is better to wash it not with a rag, but with a foam sponge.

Process order:

  1. Wipe off dust from the windowsill and window frames.
  2. Make a detergent solution.
  3. Wash the glass using a zigzag motion.
  4. Wipe it with a soft cloth or blot it with paper.

Important! To give the glass a shine, finish by washing it with an aqueous solution of ammonia - a few drops per 1 liter is enough. If you wash windows for the winter, then to prevent ice and snow from forming on the window, rinse the outside with a saline solution.

After installing double-glazed windows, many people ask on forums how to remove film from plastic windows? The fact is that this operation, which at first glance is extremely simple, sometimes becomes a real problem and headache. Therefore, in this article I will introduce you to some of the most in effective ways removal protective film from plastic frames.

A few words about protective film

The film on plastic windows protects the surface of the plastic during the transportation of windows and their installation. Moreover, manufacturers use special adhesives to glue it so that there are no problems with removal in the future. However, the coating is not intended to remain on the windows for a long time.

The fact is that gradually the glue under the film dries out and eats into the surface of the plastic. In addition, the coating itself is destroyed in the sun and loses its characteristics. As a result, when removed, the old film begins to tear or even crumble.

From this we can conclude, that it is necessary to remove the film as soon as possible after installing the windows. True, if the windows are cheap, then problems may arise even when removing the recently glued covering, due to the use of low-quality glue.

But, in any case, you shouldn’t despair, because there are quite effective ways to remove old film from plastic windows, even if it is “tightly” ingrained into the plastic. The main thing is to have patience and some tools, which I will discuss below.

In the summer, the glue dries much faster and eats into the plastic than in the cold season.

Film removal methods

So, dried protective film can be removed from the surface in the following ways:

Method 1: using a scraper

First of all, try to remove the film using a scraper or other sharp object, for example, a mounting tool or even a blade. The only thing, It is necessary to work with sharp tools very carefully so as not to damage the plastic.

Instructions for removing the coating using a scraper are as follows:

  1. First of all, you need to pry off the edge of the protective coating using a scraper or other sharp object. The peeled edge must be large enough to be grasped;
  2. next you need to pull the foam and try to tear it off in one quick movement;
  3. if the tape starts to tear, pry it again, but try to use as little as possible cutting tool and work more with your fingers so as not to scratch the plastic.

A similar method can be used if the protective coating has not yet been destroyed by exposure to the sun. Otherwise, it will not be possible to tear off the film, and it is not advisable to constantly pick at it with a scraper, since it will take a lot of time and will certainly lead to scratches on the surface of the plastic.

Even if you successfully rip off the protective coating in this way, there will likely remain areas of glue on the surface of the plastic. You can remove them in ways that I will discuss below.

Method 2: eraser

If the old coating becomes easy to tear or even crumble, it can be removed with an eraser. True, this method is only suitable for small areas, for example, if there is film or glue residue left in some places after using a scraper.

To clean the surface, choose a rubber band that is as elastic as possible. Simply rub the stained area with your hands, as if you were erasing a pencil from paper. As a result, the remaining glue and protective coating will roll into a roller that can be removed with your fingers.

It is very difficult to completely clean the frames in this way, so it is better to use a less labor-intensive method.

Method 3: hairdryer

If you cannot remove the coating with just a scraper, you can warm it up with a hair dryer before peeling off the film. This is done as follows:

  1. turn on the hairdryer at maximum power and heat thoroughly small area coatings;
  2. then pick up the tape and pull its edge. After heating, the glue should become much more “pliable”;
  3. after this you need to heat the next area and remove it in the same way;
  4. the remaining glue must be reheated and then wiped off with a paper towel.

An even more effective way to tear off the protective coating is to heat it with a steam generator. You can also use a hair dryer, however, work with it carefully so as not to melt the film and especially the plastic frames.

I must say that this method is quite effective. As a rule, it allows you to get rid of even the most ingrained glue into the surface of the plastic.

Method 4: medical or technical alcohol

Now let's look at how to remove film from plastic windows using alcohol. This method is effective in removing film and adhesive residues.

The procedure is carried out as follows:

  • the contaminated area should be treated with medical 96 percent alcohol or denatured alcohol using a spray or cotton solution. As the alcohol dries, it should be reapplied within a few minutes;
  • Then you can start removing the old adhesive and film residue using a paper towel. As you work, you may need a scraper or other tool to pry off the film.

It must be said that alcohol allows you not only to clean the surface of the old protective coating, but also to bleach the plastic, as well as get rid of other contaminants.

Method 5: vegetable oil

When choosing what to wipe off the remaining coating and glue, you can give preference vegetable oil. The latter could be anything, the only thing keep in mind is that oil will remain on the surface of the window even after you wash it. Therefore it is best to use essential oil which smells nice.

Instructions for removing the coating with this product look like this:

  1. Before washing the surface, you need to apply oil to the contaminated areas using a cotton swab, and then wait an hour. As the oil dries, the surface should be periodically lubricated;
  2. after the specified time, the contaminated areas should be wiped with a paper towel;
  3. At the end of the work, you need to wash off the oil with a non-abrasive detergent.

Method 6: white spirit

White spirit is a fairly potent agent. The only thing is, before using it, wipe a small, inconspicuous area of plastic with solvent. The fact is that not all PVC windows are resistant to this solvent.

If you are sure that the solvent will not harm the plastic, perform the work in the following order:

  1. the edge of the film must be torn off using a scraper or other sharp object, as far as possible;
  2. then the space between the film and the surface of the plastic should be treated with a solvent;
  3. You should wait a few minutes before peeling off the film. After this, the tape should come off easily;
  4. in the area where the film has not begun to tear, white spirit should be applied again.

If when installing the window you used vapor barrier tape, make sure that no solvent gets on it, as it may deteriorate.

Method 7: “Shumanite”

Schumannite is a potent detergent, which is intended primarily to remove fat from the surface. However, it also copes well with adhesives that are used when gluing protective coatings. The only thing to remember is that Schumanite contains substances that can react with frames, so you should not apply it for a long time.

Dried film and old glue are removed using this tool as follows:

  1. old glue should be treated with the compound. If there is old coating left on the surface, the area underneath it should be treated, as well as the edges along the tape;
  2. almost immediately after applying Schumanite, the coating should be torn off and the remaining glue should be wiped off with a damp towel;
  3. At the end of the work, the surface of the plastic must be washed with any suitable detergent.

Method 8: "HG Sticker Remover"

When talking about how easy it is to remove old film, one cannot fail to mention such a product as HG Sticker Remover. It is sold in stores household chemicals, as a rule, in bottles with a capacity of 300 ml.

In general, this composition is intended for removing stickers and all kinds of self-adhesive stickers from the surface. However, as practice shows, with the help of Sticker Remover, old protective film can be easily removed.

The principle of its use is similar to working with other solvents:

  1. before tearing off the film, you should pick it up and treat it with a product;
  2. after a few minutes the coating can be peeled off;
  3. then the surface should be treated again with the composition;
  4. after a few seconds, the product with glue residue must be removed using a paper towel or a clean rag.

Method 9: "Cosmofen 10"

If you ask manufacturers of plastic windows to advise you on a means for removing the protective coating, they will probably tell you about “Cosmofen 10”, which is a weak PVC solvent designed specifically for such purposes.

You can also use its analogue, which is called “FENOSOL”. The price of these compositions ranges from 300 rubles per liter.

As in previous cases, the old film is first picked out, after which the composition is applied. These products can also be used to remove glue residue.

Before you wash the surface of the glue, you need to wait a few minutes for the product to react.

Method 10: “P-12”

Finally, I’ll tell you about the “RP-6” product, which is an acrylic solvent. With its help, you can easily remove glue residues.

The only thing is, before doing the work, be sure to check whether the solvent reacts with plastic frames. The fact is that some types of plastic can change color under the influence of RP-6.

The composition is used in the same way as other solvents. Typically, a few minutes is enough for it to react with the old glue.

To remove protective film from plastic windows at home, you can use a solvent, scraper, hair dryer and other devices. You can also solve the problem with soap, window cleaner, brush, or denatured alcohol. Next, the structure must be cleaned of any remaining adhesive base and protective film. In this case, a screed, a sponge, crumpled paper and a special glass cleaner will help.

Film removal methods

According to the rules, the protective film from PVC windows must be removed within 10 days, because in a year this will be quite problematic. The film is very thin and delicate, under the influence of sunlight and high temperature, it collapses and eventually dries out. To prevent the glue from drying out, you must use the following means:

  1. 1. Blade, knife or scraper. When using sharp objects, it is important to avoid damaging the surface. Carefully pry off the edge of the film with a scraper or blade, then tear off the remaining part with your hands. After you have managed to peel off the protection from a windowsill or plastic window, traces of the adhesive may remain on the surface. You can get rid of them using a cleaning gel (Cif, for example) and a dishwashing sponge. When removing the adhesive, do not use any force, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the surfaces.
  2. 2. Construction hair dryer. The hot air stream should be directed directly at the frame, and not at the glass unit, because cracks may appear on it. Under the influence of heat, the adhesive composition will become softer, this will significantly simplify the cleaning of the glass from the film. In the same way, you can use a regular hair dryer or a steam generator.
  3. 3. White alcohol or other solvent. Before using any of these products, it is worth testing the effect of the composition on an inconspicuous area of the window or window sill. If the plastic is not damaged, then you can begin to remove the protection. Method of application: carefully pry the edge of the film with a scraper or other sharp object, then apply the product between the plastic and the film. So gradually clean the entire surface.
  4. 4. Cosmofen. This is a special solvent for removing protection from PVC windows. There are 3 types that differ in the degree of impact: No. 5, No. 10, No. 20. If used carelessly, you can dissolve not only the film, but also the plastic. Therefore, it is recommended to use the least aggressive composition, number five.
  5. 5. Paint remover RP6. To get rid of the old dried film, you need to apply this product to it in a thick layer. After 10-12 minutes the surface will begin to swell. To remove the film, you must wear gloves and safety glasses. The soap solution will help remove any remaining glue and product.
  6. 6. Soap solution and hard brush. This method is effective if the window is on the shady side. Adhesive composition It doesn’t heat up much, which means its adhesion to plastic is weak. For this it is necessary to hot water(1 liter is enough) dissolve 2 tablespoons of shavings laundry soap. After soaking the brush in this product, try to wipe off the remaining film.
  7. 7. Denatured alcohol. You should pour denatured alcohol into a spray bottle and evenly spray the surface on which the protection has dried. After 5 minutes, you can lift the edge of the film and remove it with your hands. When performing these manipulations, be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.

If the film does not come off, you can solve the problem using detergent. chemical agent(Schumann). To clean the surface from the protection, you must follow the instructions included on the package. If after removing the main part there are small “islands” left, you can rub them with a regular eraser.

Cleaning windows from film residues

After you have managed to peel off the film at home, the glass unit needs to be washed.

There are several ways and means:

  1. 1. Paper, rags and window cleaner with spray. First you need to treat with a damp cloth to remove any remaining compounds, glue and pieces of film. After this, spray the windows with a spray and wipe them first with a dry rag, then with paper (you can use napkins).
  2. 2. Sponge and screed. This option is ideal for cases where you need to reach the windows. In this case, you need to use a screed with a handle, the length of which should be within 25-30 cm. The cleaning itself is performed as follows: first of all, you need to prepare a cleaning solution - 2 drops of product per 2 liters warm water. Soak the sponge in the solution and squeeze it out well so that excess liquid does not drip onto the windowsill. You need to wash in a circular motion, paying special attention to those places where the protective film was removed and the adhesive base remained. Then you should take clean warm water into a container, soak the screed in it and run it along the entire length of the surface. After cleaning the windows, wipe them with a dry cloth using horizontal movements from left to right. At the end of these manipulations, remove the water from the windowsill.
  3. 3. Concentrated soap solution. To clean the surface from film and glue residues, you first need to prepare a solution from shavings of laundry soap, then soak a rag in it and wipe the windows. When a soap crust appears, remove it with a mint toilet paper or a newspaper. To avoid streaks, use a window cleaner with a spray (Chistulya, Cinderella and others).

The profile of a plastic window is covered special film, which protects it from dirt, scratches and other mechanical damage during delivery and installation. It is very easy to remove it from the product, but it must be done in time. It is advisable to start this immediately after the window is installed. Otherwise, it will be necessary to resort to more radical methods of cleaning the film from the profile.

Why is it difficult to remove protective film from a window?

The instructions for plastic windows usually indicate that the film must be removed within 2 weeks after installation. Removing the film will not cause much difficulty in the coming months. However, if it remains on the profile for more than 4 months, a lot of effort will have to be made to remove the film.

For what reasons could this problem occur? The film contains several layers that are attached to the profile using special glue. Strong adhesion to plastic occurs under the influence of solar radiation, as well as heat. In other words, the process of decomposition of the inner very thin layer of the film occurs. Therefore, the inner layer is much more difficult to remove than the surface layer.

Reasons that contribute to increased adhesion of film and PVC frame:

  • action of heat. IN summer time the film dries to the frame much faster than in winter;
  • The quality of the special glue applied to the film affects the difficulty of its removal. The cheaper the windows, the lower the quality of the glue;
  • exposure to UV rays. The adhesive layer of film on windows located on the south side of the building may dry out faster. Therefore, it can be more difficult to remove film on such windows than on windows located on the north side.

How to remove film and adhesive tape from metal-plastic windows

It is recommended to remove the protective film from the window within 2 weeks after installation. Then it will be difficult to do this. This is due to the fact that under the influence various factors its adhesive layer will change its characteristics. You may need to seek help from a cleaning company or wipe off the old tape yourself using tools and substances such as:

  • scraper;
  • construction hair dryer;
  • scissors;
  • Cosmofen;
  • different chemicals.

If duct tape does not come off completely, you should use alcohol or tape.

Methods for removing adhesive tape from plastic windows

There are many methods for removing adhesive tape from double glazed windows. However, the fastest and most effective methods, thanks to which all the film is removed and the surface of the window is not damaged, are the following:

  • scraper or brush. Removing tape with this tool will never damage the window surface when used with a soap solution;
  • an eraser that will need to scrub the film quite intensively. But at the same time, the profile surface is well preserved;
  • construction hair dryer - the best remedy, but when using it, one condition must be observed. The hair dryer can only be directed at the frame. If a stream of hot air hits a glass unit, it may crack or burst from exposure to temperature. A construction hair dryer heats the tape, after which the glue begins to dissolve, which means you can easily remove it;

Advice. With absence construction hair dryer You can always use the regular one, but it must work in turbo mode. But do not forget that this option is suitable if the protective film is not very strongly glued to the PVC profile.

  • White spirit can also be useful in removing the adhesive film from the product, but it is usually applied not on top of the PVC window, but between the film and the surface of the product. It is necessary to pry up its edge and moisten the area with white spirit. Wait a few minutes and remove the film;
  • Cosmofen is excellent at removing film. This product has proven itself as a cleaner for plastic windows;
  • thin knife. You should use such a tool carefully, since pressing it hard can scratch the window profile. In this case, the actions should be as follows: use a knife to pick up a small edge of the film, then tear it off very slowly. Residues of glue are removed using a solvent;
  • Wide tape will help remove any remaining adhesive tape. It's very easy to use. You need to stick the tape on the surface and carefully remove it along with the rest of the film;
  • Industrial alcohol or denatured alcohol must be poured into a small spray bottle and the substance should be sprayed evenly onto the protective film. The denatured alcohol should be left on the surface for a few minutes. Then pry the edge of the film with a knife and remove the film. In this way, the entire profile is sprayed and the remaining film is removed. The glue is removed acrylic solvent;
  • Schumann. The effectiveness of this detergent, which is produced in Israel by the Buggy company, has been proven by numerous consumer reviews. And since this is a strong remedy, it must be used with extreme caution;
  • RP-6 - excellent remedy to remove the film, which must be applied thickly to the surface of the frame for 10 minutes. The film swells and comes off easily after using this drug;
  • a weak solvent does a good job of removing traces of PVC films. However, remember that before you apply the product over the entire surface, you need to test its effect on an inconspicuous area of the window.

Attention! It is worth saying that the options listed above are always applicable for all parts window designs, since the adhesive used for them is the same.

How to remove solar control film or foil from a window

All modern materials, protecting our homes from high external temperatures, contain not only aluminum, but also other elements that complicate the process of removing them from the surface. To ensure that there are no noticeable stains or streaks on the glass, foil or film from the window is removed with special care. There are the most popular methods for cleaning windows from PVC film.

Steaming against old adhesive tape

Using a modern steamer, you can easily remove the film from the window. The entire cleaning process must be carried out in several stages.

  1. A small area on the window must be heated with hot steam produced by the steamer. In this case, it is important that its direction is point-wise and not over the entire area of the window.
  2. After 5 minutes, you should lift a small section of the film and then pull it towards you, thereby separating the film from the window.
  3. We do the same with the new area until the entire window is clear of solar control film.

This is the most basic and gentlest option for film removal. And even if there are traces left on the window after it, they are removed using a regular soap solution.

How to wash mirror film using newspaper

Also sun protection film Can be removed using regular soapy water and newspaper. This work is done in several stages.

Other means and methods

Cleaning and detergents that can be used to remove duct tape from the window frame, suitable for removing stains and film from the glass surface. In addition to the already mentioned Cosmofen and Schumanite, effective substances such as:

  • Phenosol;
  • Domax (the product is intended for gentle care of ceramics and glass, so it does not contain abrasive substances).

But even these are very powerful tools do not always cope with the task. In this case, you need to use a hard scraper or choose another method of cleaning the film from the window.

Precautions when removing film residues from glass and plastic

When working to remove solar control or regular film from a window, precautions should be taken. Need to use protective equipment from chemical substances, which have a negative effect not only on human skin, but also on his respiratory tract.

  • Sharp objects must be used carefully to avoid injury. Try to follow the following rules:
  • work with chemicals wearing impervious and very durable rubber gloves;
  • Do not press too hard on the glass, as it may break;
  • use extreme caution when using a scraper, scissors, knife or other sharp objects to avoid scratching the window or injuring yourself;
  • do not allow chemicals to get into your eyes, skin, or respiratory tract;

Keep tools and materials used to remove film marks out of the reach of children.

  • To ensure that you are pleased with the results of your window film removal work, adhere to the following rules: Remove the protective film immediately after the window is installed. And if installation work
  • are not completed yet, it is better to stick masking tape on the surface of the window. This way you can avoid not only contamination, but also damage to the surface of the PVC profile during the repair process. Then, after completing all the work, you will not need to make great efforts to remove the stuck tape;
  • After removing the protective sticker, treat all moving parts of the fittings with lubricant;
  • do not use abrasive substances;
  • when using chemicals, take into account their level of impact on the PVC surface, otherwise you can damage one of the layers of the window at the micro level;
  • work with sharp objects carefully, and if possible, remove the film with your fingers so as not to leave scratches on the profile;

Do not use strong solvents that can damage the profile. Before you begin removing the film from the PVC window, you must complete all installation work. In this case, a great view window opening

will please you for a long time. The exception is those types of work after which you physically cannot remove the film. Often the owners plastic structures

It must be said that removing the film itself is only part of the issue, since an adhesive substance still remains on the surface of the glass unit, which is also very difficult to remove.

Methods for cleaning double-glazed windows from film and glue

There are two main ways to remove old film from plastic windows:

  • Mechanical
  • Chemical.

Sometimes, both methods are combined for greater efficiency.

Mechanical window cleaning options

From cleaning options mechanically There are several most effective ones:

  1. Remains of the protective coating are removed with a special scraper designed for cleaning cooking or glass ceramic panels. Minor scratches and glue residues can then be removed with FENOSOL or COSMOFEN 10 cleaner. If these cleaners are not available, then you can use an acrylic solvent, for example R-12.
  2. The second method requires an industrial hair dryer or at least a powerful home hair dryer, since it is much easier to remove film from plastic windows after it has been heated. This method is very simple - you need to heat the film and pry off its edge with a sharp stationery knife or scalpel. In this case, the coating should come off easily; any remaining adhesive can be removed using the method described above.
  3. Likewise the previous method you can use a steam generator, this method is even more effective.
  4. There is another one interesting advice how to peel off film from plastic windows, which will help solve the problem - the film is erased with a regular office eraser. Glue residues can be removed with white spirit or the above mentioned cleaners.

Advice!
You should work with the scraper as carefully as possible and, if possible, remove the film with your fingers, since even a safe scraper leaves PVC profile scratches.

Chemical options

And so, we looked at how to remove film from plastic windows mechanically.

However, some chemical cleaning methods have proven to be no less effective:

  • Denatured alcohol should be poured into a water sprayer, for example, for spraying with water indoor plants. Then denatured alcohol must be applied to the surface and wait a few minutes. Before removing the protective film from plastic windows, you may have to pry it off with a utility knife. (See also article.)
  • The “Shumanit” detergent, produced by the Israeli company Buggy, copes well with the task. However, it should be borne in mind that this is a very strong remedy, so it should be used carefully. The price for this remedy is quite affordable.
  • It is easy to clean glass units using paint remover RP 6. This chemical composition You need to apply it thickly to the surface and wait 10 minutes, after which the protective tape will begin to swell literally before your eyes. Before cleaning plastic windows from film, you should wear glasses and gloves; alkali and glue residues can be washed off with soapy water.

Note!
Many owners of PVC double-glazed windows make a grave mistake - they try to remove the protective tape using a solvent.
The fact is that the film will still remain on the bags, but the profile will be hopelessly damaged.

How to wash plastic windows

Moreover, there are also several washing methods, here are the most effective:

  • Using spray, rag and paper;
  • Using a screed and sponge.

Now let's look at each of these methods.

Spray washing rags and paper

This method can be used if the surface is not too dirty.

For it we will need:

  • Clean cotton fabric;
  • Window cleaner with spray nozzle;
  • Water container;
  • Paper napkins.

The instructions for washing windows using this method are quite simple:

  • First of all, you need to take a small amount of warm water into a container and wet a rag. The fabric should be wrung out so that it is damp but not wet.
  • Then use a rag to wipe off the dirt from the window.
  • After this, you need to distribute the spray over the surface in a zigzag motion.
  • Next, the surface should be washed with a dry piece of cloth.
  • The obtained result must be secured by wiping the surface with newspapers or paper napkins.

Cleaning windows with a screed and sponge

This method is especially good if you cannot get to the windows with your hands or need to reach them. In this case, you can use a coupler with a handle 25-30 cm long. With this cleaning, there will be no streaks or stains on the glass.
