How to hang a water heater on a tiled wall. At what height should a storage water heater be hung? Attach the water heater to a thin concrete wall

The boiler is very useful option V modern apartment or home. That is why the demand for this technology is growing every year. How to hang a water heater is the most popular question that concerns all potential buyers. Indeed, when storage boiler already standing at home, the man begins to think about how to connect it and attach it to the wall.

How to hang a water heater is the most popular question that worries all potential buyers

Attaching a water heater to a wall at home can cause some difficulties. Present here a large number of factors, each must be taken into account. For example, the weight of the boiler itself is important criterion. Often, a water heater is selected carefully, taking into account the material of the wall itself in advance. Try working with drywall or attaching a boiler to a wooden wall - it's not so easy.

Design Feature

Water heaters can be different sizes and dimensions, so you need to take into account the design features before you start hanging the structure on the wall. Storage devices may also vary in weight. Large size is not an indicator. For example, boilers from the Ariston company have compact visual characteristics, but always have an impressive weight.

Therefore, you need to divide boilers by type, the result is:

  • Gas water heater, which is always connected to the mains or cylinder. A popular option, but not very practical due to its requirements. The main thing is the presence of a chimney that can go outside the house.
  • An electric water heater that can be powered by home power. It is often installed in apartments because of this advantage. A chimney is not required, because there are no combustion products, which is another plus.
  • Heaters with indirect heating. They are always equipped with heat exchangers that need to be connected directly to your heating system.

What do all these models have in common? There is one detail - a storage tank. It looks like a tank, but is significantly heavier than this item. When it fills with water, it becomes really heavy. Therefore, the tank dimensions are important nuance before attaching the structure to the wall. It is necessary to take into account the dimensions, weight, visual characteristics and features of the container.

There are a lot of questions about fastening elements, but there is no need to worry. Any model, of any brand, is immediately sold complete with them. If the device floor type, then installing it is very easy. If it is wall-mounted, many problems arise. You need a strong wall that can support the weight. If you hang a heavy boiler on a very thin wall, it may simply not hold up.

Each wall-mounted boiler has a special feature - it is pre-equipped with special mounting lugs. This is to ensure that the device is installed correctly. The kit includes special steel hooks. Sometimes they are not there, and you have to buy the missing part on the market. The main feature is that the diameter of the hole in the eye must correspond to the diameter of the hook itself.

Special hook and hole for its fastening

When there is a boiler in the living room, and the wall for installation has already been selected, you need to understand a little about the design itself. Even a person without experience can do this; you do not need to be a professional water heater installer. Despite differences in size and design, most boilers look almost the same. So, you need to understand the mounting options:

  1. The first one is more difficult, but also reliable. You need to purchase several dowels, which are driven into the walls using a special construction gun. The main difficulty is that not everyone has the necessary tools. You will have to borrow it; buying a construction gun for the sake of one process is stupid, because it costs a lot.
  2. The second option is not as strong, but much lighter. You need to purchase dowels, but with plastic tips. We drill several holes of the required diameter, insert dowels there and screw in steel hooks. Simple and reliable.

Remember that these options are only suitable for solid walls. If the house has foam blocks, then you need to take into account their strength and condition. Any looseness of the material and the structure may break. Eg, frame houses often have no lining interior walls, the owners leave the tree. Wood cannot withstand heavy loads, so you need to think about similar fastening options.

Walls made of different materials - how to fix them

Since there are a lot of materials that walls can be made of, each of them needs to be discussed. The quality of the boiler fastening depends on this. And this nuance significantly improves its performance. And there is no chance that the wall will simply collapse over time. Therefore, it is worth scrupulously approaching the issue of material and calculating how much capacity the tank has.

If the tank is huge, for example 100 liters, this is not a problem. But only if the walls are made of durable concrete or stone foundation. Only these materials can withstand such a load. In another case, it is necessary to use additional tools and methods. IN this material We will consider situations with each of the possible options.

Foam concrete

Popular in last years a material that many people use. Durable, reliable, but with its own characteristics. There is no need to figure it out for a long time if the tank does not exceed a volume of 50 liters. In this case, it will be enough to prepare simple spiral-shaped nylon dowels. But what to do if the tank volume ranges from 80 to 100 liters? This is already a very heavy structure and cannot be done without additional tools.

  • You can use a mounting plate, which is secured with long steel dowels. It needs to be clarified that the stud and thread are passed through the wall, and then the washer pads need to be tightened with nuts.
  • Also excellent option It can be a special anchor that is made specifically for foam concrete. It is created precisely for such cases when you need to attach the device to the wall. But it is not a fact that they will be able to withstand a load of 100 kilograms.
  • You can use an anchor with glue, which is also called chemical. It sits very firmly in the foam concrete and looks neat.

We have listed all the options that can be used with a material such as foam concrete. But the best one is the third. These dowels cope well with temperature changes and are environmentally friendly; special glue is used.

How to attach chemical anchors to the wall and make the right basis for a future boiler installation? You need to make several holes. Place the drill at an angle and rotate it along its axis. A niche will appear inside the material that will look like a pocket. First you need to fill it with glue, and then insert it inside the anchor. They harden quickly and become incredibly durable.

Adobe

Saman is another one interesting option which offers modern market. The material can be very durable, it all depends on its quality. But even in the best case, you cannot do without additional tools; simple anchors will not be enough. Ingenuity is the main weapon; it will help you come up with a way out of the situation. The simplest option is to make a special shield.

It looks like a simple one metal plate, which, by its shape, allows you to distribute the load correctly over the entire wall. The shield itself contains several elements. A couple of mounting hooks need to be welded to it; they can be replaced with an eye, which will help secure the boiler with bolts. The shield itself is secured with very long anchors; you can also use pins and pads for wide washers.

Ceramic tile

Water heater on ceramic tiles

How often are ceramic tiles used in the home? In the kitchen - almost always. This is an excellent material that is ideal for such purposes. In turn, it must be said that a boiler is also often installed in the kitchen. Therefore, this subheading is ideal for such cases. The water heater can be hung on this material only if two conditions are met:

  • Very often voids are left under the cladding during the installation procedure. The boiler simply cannot stand on such flimsy material. Therefore, they should not be there, just behind the tiles is the main material of the wall.
  • The main material of the wall must be durable.
  • The tile should be attached as firmly as possible, without any deformation, and so on.

If you do not follow at least one of these rules, then problems will definitely arise. The first concerns the complete breakdown of the structure from the wall. Wherein ceramic tile will be very badly damaged. A problem may also arise when the wall can withstand the load, but the tiles cannot. As a result, it begins to crack and press into the structure. This occurs in the softest areas, as well as where voids have formed.

Plasterboard partitions

A special pin with a mesh sleeve will help install the boiler on drywall

Drywall has never been considered reliable and strong material. Therefore, hanging a boiler on such a wall is a dangerous and adventurous idea. In any case, this can be done in the place where mortgages are provided. Often they are created during the construction of the wall itself. It is this design that allows you to secure a boiler of almost any size, the anchors will not fall out.

The filling area should be almost similar to the boiler itself. It may be larger, but definitely not smaller; the structure will not withstand the load.

There is also another option - Basic structure just behind the plasterboard partition. In this case, you just need to drill a hole in both materials. And insert standard anchors there, screw them in using the typical method. When drilling, the thickness of the drywall is not taken into account. The design will be strong and reliable, the boiler will be able to hang for years and not even tilt in any direction.

Wood

A special shield that is installed through the wall

Wooden buildings have excellent visual characteristics. But wood has never been able to work as a reliable load-bearing structure. Therefore, she simply cannot hold a heavy boiler. But this is not the most important thing; you also need to think about safety. Wood can easily ignite, so when installing a boiler, always use some kind of non-combustible material as a backing.

If your load-bearing wall is wooden beam or a log, then it can support the largest water heater. Just screw in the L-shaped bracket and you're done. But you should understand that wood wears out very quickly. When it loses its properties, the structure will begin to tilt and may fall out. Therefore, experts advise using an additional shield.

It looks like a simple steel plate that can distribute the load over its entire area. Also, such a shield works as a lining to avoid fire. This is an ideal option when it comes to interior wooden partitions. Partitions are very often made of a pillar, which is covered with shingles and filled with clay and straw. In this case, you need to use a pin with a nut and pass the tool through the partitions.

Lining

Lining is one of the most capricious materials and in this case, it makes no exceptions. Here you need to create a non-flammable lining, as in the previous version. But it’s too difficult to give any advice on how to choose a mount. This issue needs to be resolved individually, examining the circumstances.

Most best option, if it can be fastened securely and tenaciously, install racks made of timber. You can also use a profile pipe. The structure itself is usually painted in the color of the lining, so as not to spoil the overall style. Lining is the worst option for mounting a water heater. If there is no choice, then you need to think and decide, and if there is, then it is better to reconsider other options.

Plaster of Paris

Another material that is a very bad option. The wall will not be able to support a large boiler; no amount of fastening will help. Therefore, it is often necessary to use the ceiling as additional support. You need to get two metal tires. The first one is attached to the floor beam and concrete slab ceiling. The second needs to be attached to the material itself; this is done using dowels.

Brick and cinder block

Mount that is ideal when using cinder blocks

If the wall is made of cinder block, then an anchor screw would be an ideal option. It will not help only if the material is of poor quality. If the blocks are porous, they will not withstand the load. A couple of studs or bolts that need to be passed through the entire wall will help. Brick also has its own characteristics. If it is a silicate variety, then it is better to use an anchor screw or a pin with a collet. The structure will be very strong.

In this case, the supporting structure must be strong. Minimum thickness walls are measured very simply - no less than a brick. If we are talking about red brick, then everything is much more complicated. The material is weak and requires a welded frame or shield. Without this, the structure will simply fall off, ruining the entire brick when it falls.

If you have a thin wall, then you need to use additional panels or frames made of profile pipe. Often, anchors or studs are passed through to hold the structure as securely as possible. If the wall is made of concrete, then you need to build on the possibilities. There are simply thousands of fasteners and the material gives you the advantage of choice.

Features of installation work

Ideal fastening - dowels with plastic tips

First you need to choose the right installation location. It is worth taking into account the fact that water taps and an electrical panel should be nearby, this will increase ease of use. Also, the design itself should not take up extra space, it should look harmonious and not interfere with movement around the room. The first step is checking the strength. You need to draw markings on the wall.

After this, the creation of holes begins, plastic dowels are driven in, and a homemade shield is installed to improve strength. Each boiler model has several mounting plates with eyes. They are at the back. You need to insert an anchor inside the hole and screw it into a plastic dowel. It is also recommended to use hooks, they are easier. I just hung the structure through the eyes and that’s it.

Attaching a boiler to the wall is not the easiest process, requiring special knowledge and skills. A water heater cannot be installed on a wall by a person who does not have experience in such work. In this case, it is advisable to use the services of specialists. The article is intended for those who, having certain skills, want to learn how to hang a water heater on the wall. Here you will find all the rules and parameters that you can understand and install the equipment correctly, ensuring its safe operation.

Preparatory work

Before you start installation, you need to make a choice suitable place. In this case, you need to know the following nuances:

  • The boiler must be located close to electricity and water communications.
  • It is advisable to install the boiler in a plumbing closet, which will allow for more efficient use of free space.
  • Before hanging the water heater on the wall, consider leaving more room in the kitchen. free space. For this reason for small rooms It is advisable to purchase a boiler that is compact in size.

Important! When installing a water heating device in a bathroom, you should not place it directly above the bowl, as this will cause inconvenience during operation of the device.

  • Before installing a water heating device, you need to check the strength of the wall. Perfect option– if the wall is made of concrete block or brick.

Important! The device itself has a fairly large mass, and if water is poured into it, the mass increases even more. The wall must withstand this load.

What tools are needed?

To complete the entire cycle of work related to mounting the boiler on the wall, you will need:

  • Construction pistol.
  • Hammer.
  • Electric drill.
  • The water heating device must be mounted on hooks with a diameter of 1 cm and dowels, which is due to the size and weight of the entire structure.
  • If there is no construction gun, holes are drilled with an electric drill or hammer drill for special fastening screws.
  • If the boiler is hung on a plastered wall, you can use 10 cm screws for fastening, with a plastic part less than 8 cm.

Before fixing the water heater to wooden wall, it is necessary to take care of a non-flammable base for the device. This is required by fire safety regulations.

Important! You should not use inexpensive ones for supplying water to the boiler. flexible hoses. They often fail and require replacement. It is better to purchase higher quality and more expensive materials. Parts for connecting pipes must be made of copper.

In addition to tools, you will need:

  • Water heating device.
  • Metal hooks.
  • Hammer or electric drill.
  • High quality hoses.
  • Dowels.
  • Screws.
  • Diagram and instructions for connecting the device.
  • Network cable.
  • Filter for rough water purification.
  • A set of special pipes.
  • Construction pistol.
  • Pencil.

Installation technology

Algorithm installation work next:

  1. Select a location suitable for the water heating device.
  2. Prepare holes for dowels.
  3. Insert epoxy resin or cement plugs into the holes using wood or plastic inserts.
  4. Screw the screws into the liners and leave until completely hardened. epoxy resin or cement.
  5. Most often, at the back of the boiler there is a special mounting plate with shaped holes. Insert the heads of dowels or screws into these holes and screw them into the wall.
  6. To make the structure more reliable, screw an additional screw between the two existing ones so that the lower part of the mounting plate rests on it. This will not allow her to bend.
  7. Install the water heating device.
  8. Decide on the reliability of the electrical wiring in the apartment, select the materials and thickness of the wires.
  9. Perform grounding. If all work is done correctly, the boiler will serve you for a long time.
  10. In addition, the kit includes a protective check valve, which prevents the outflow of water from the water heating device. Screw also onto the water inlet pipe safety valve.

Important! It should be taken into account that the pipe for hot water located at the top, and for cold water at the bottom.

The procedure for connecting the boiler to the electrical network

The procedure for connecting to the power supply is as follows:

  • Preparing a new network cable for connection to the panel.
  • The device must be connected in accordance with the colors of the braid. Yellow wire– grounding, blue – working zero, brown – phase.

Important! Do not use a gas or water pipe for grounding.

These basic principles carrying out the work will allow you, if you have the skills to perform similar work, to do everything efficiently. Means - hot water equipment will work efficiently and safely for a long time, and you will not experience discomfort due to the lack of hot water.

A water heater has a simpler name - a boiler. This is an ideal alternative to the lack of hot water supply in the house. In addition, it allows you to save money on utility bills.

Usually the boiler is installed either in the bathroom or in the kitchen. However, if we are talking about country house, then it is possible to install the device on the roof.

Design Features

The design of any water heater necessarily includes fastenings. They vary depending on where the boiler is installed - on the wall or on the floor.

With a floor-standing device, everything is relatively simple. But installation to the wall is carried out using steel fasteners on the back side of the tank body for heating water. In this case, you will need dowels, the dimensions of which must correspond to the fastenings on the boiler. By the way, there are devices that require removing the back panel. The dowels are attached with a construction gun. If there is none, then you need to drill holes for screws for fastening using a hammer drill or drill.

Typically, fasteners - steel hooks - are included with the water heater. Parts should only be used if they are of high quality. Their diameter should exceed one centimeter.

The water equipment market is represented by three main types of boilers. The method of installation work will depend on their type:

  • Indirect heating. The peculiarity is the absence of heating elements; heating of the liquid is possible from external sources. The design can be both wall and floor.
  • Gas storage. The liquid is in a special container and is heated by the combustion of gas. It is recommended to entrust installation to specialists.
  • Electric storage. Heating of the liquid is provided by heating elements at the bottom of the tank; the water temperature is regulated by a thermostat. Most popular due to ease of installation, connection and operation.

Selecting a location

Regardless of where the boiler will be located - in the bathroom or in the kitchen - you should pay attention to a number of nuances:

  • the device must be located near communications (water and electricity);
  • installation is optimal in the plumbing compartment;
  • compactness of the device in the case of a small square footage of the room;
  • the wall must withstand the potential load, not only from the device itself, but also from the water poured into it;
  • the humidity in the area of the potentially installed structure should not be high. Otherwise, the device will easily fail.

If the owner of the premises has chosen a bathroom as the location for the tank, he should keep in mind the possible inconveniences if the heater is mounted above the bathroom itself.

How to mount the device?

Walls made of bricks or blocks are considered ideal for installing a water heater, but it is highly undesirable to mount them on a thin wall. However, fastening to other types of materials is also acceptable. The most common:

  • drywall,
  • tile,
  • tree,
  • lining,
  • foam blocks,
  • plaster.

Let's look at the installation features for each type of wall.

Drywall

Experts consider drywall a capricious material and question its load resistance. However, there are two effective ways, with which you can install a boiler in a room lined with sheets of plasterboard:

  • installation on reinforcement, which is laid under the wall cladding material;
  • installation on holes made in the wall.

Tile

Sometimes during repairs the question arises: when is it better to install a heating tank - before or after laying the tiles. It's good to have options. What if the tiles are already laid? Qualified experts believe that in this case three conditions must be met:

  • glue evenly applied to the tiles;
  • the tiles must be laid without voids;
  • the wall must be made of solid materials that do not allow the tiles to sag or wobble.

If all requirements are met, then any water heater can be mounted on top of the tiles.

Tree

Information about mounting the tank on wooden surface full of contradictions. According to some sources, installation on wood is extremely undesirable, since the wall will not be able to withstand the colossal load, which will become even greater after the boiler is filled with water.

According to other sources, the installation is acceptable. True, with a caveat. Before fixing the water heater, it is important to select a non-combustible base for the unit in accordance with fire safety rules.

Lining

This material in this case is considered capricious. Therefore, it is impossible to do without special conditions for the installation process. You will need two vertical beams, which need to be carefully processed and painted to match the color of the lining or tank. They are permanently attached, and the water heater is already hung on them. The lining itself is not capable of supporting the weight of the boiler.

Foam concrete

Special fastenings such as nylon spiral dowels will be required. If the volume of the device exceeds 100 liters, it makes sense to use metal fasteners. Two fastening options are acceptable - using metal dowels or using special or chemical anchors for foam concrete. The option using a chemical (or adhesive) anchor is considered the most reliable and modern, as well as environmentally friendly.

Plaster of Paris

There are two installation options:

  • Cutting holes in the slabs for the frame (metal profile pipes) with subsequent fixation to permanent surfaces such as ceilings, floors or walls.
  • Using two 40x4 metal bars bent at right angles. They will be used as fastenings. One end of each bus goes to the anchor to concrete ceilings, and the other for additional fixation - on dowels to the wall.

Tools required for work

To install a water heater you will need:

  • instructions describing the connection;
  • pencil;
  • metal hooks;
  • dowels and screws;
  • roulette;
  • construction gun;
  • hammer drill or drill;
  • hoses;
  • network cable;
  • water purification filter;
  • pipes

Clarification regarding hoses for supplying water to the unit: better, more expensive, but more reliable. Flexible products may fail ahead of schedule. It is desirable if the elements for supplying pipes are copper.

Unlike instantaneous models, storage water heaters have big sizes due to the presence of a tank. Before buying a boiler for yourself, you need to think about where it is better to hang the water heater in the bathroom. A common option is visible in the photo.

When choosing a future location, it is important to consider several factors:

  • The wall to which the water heater is attached must be load-bearing. Allowed to be mounted on concrete and brick walls. It is prohibited to hang boilers on plasterboard partitions.
  • You need to consider the convenience of water supply. A location is selected that is as close as possible to water communications.
  • Plan how the wires and electrical outlet will be located. Even if the bathroom already has electricity, it is advisable to install a new one copper cable and connect it to a separate machine. The wire must be grounded. It is prohibited to install sockets above the bathtub and shower.
  • In the future, access to the boiler connection point must remain for repairs if necessary. For prevention, you should check the condition of the heating element from time to time. There must be space to remove it.
  • We need to think about access to sewerage, to release water from the overpressure valve.

When choosing the optimal location, you should strive to ensure that the body does not interfere with movement and occupies minimal amount room volume. To do this, they try to hang it as high as possible.

The most common places for a water heater:

Compact vertical models Can be hung almost anywhere. They are very compact and will not interfere, even if they are mounted on the side of the bathroom.

The easiest way to install a floor model. Such water heaters occupy less space and do not require installation on walls. The water supply is from the rear. Such boilers can be placed under the sink or in any free space.

Tankless water heaters are smaller and typically fit under the bathtub or in a sink cabinet.

Tankless water heater under the sink

In the video below you can see about the original invisible hatch, which allows you to hide the water heater if you place it in a niche or in a wall with sewer pipes:

Let's figure it out with our own hands, using only one model as an example. The installation sequence for wall-mounted storage water heaters is the same, regardless of the model or manufacturer.

Where is the best place to install a storage water heater?

It’s easier to answer: where the water heater should not be installed.

For example, it is not recommended to hang it over a bathtub or shower, because it is not recommended to splash water on the electrical part of the boiler. If free space there is not much in the bathroom, then you can install a water heater above washing machine or the toilet.

What tools and materials are needed to install a water heater?

To install a water heater you need hooks with dowels (for hanging), an adjustable wrench, winding (linen) with Unipak paste, corner taps, a tape measure, a pencil (marker), a hammer drill or hammer drill(depending on the wall material), a drill of the appropriate diameter.

Installation of a storage water heater

Installation begins with measuring the distance between the fasteners on the boiler itself. The fastenings are two brackets on the rear side of the case at the top. We need two measurements: 1) the distance from the top of the water heater to the bottom of these brackets; 2) the distance between the middles of the staples. The first size is needed to avoid making the awnings too close to the ceiling - so that the boiler cannot be hung. The second size is the distance between the hooks on which the boiler will hang.

To the first size we add as much as possible, for example, 50 mm, so that the water heater is not close to the ceiling. And we mark the resulting size on the wall from the ceiling in the selected location.

First we draw a center line on the wall, and from it to the left and to the right we draw half of the second size. We check by level that these two marks are on the same horizontal line, otherwise the boiler will hang crookedly:

After marking, you can drill. Don't forget to make sure there are no electrical wiring running through the drilling areas.

Drilled; hammered plastic dowels into the holes and screwed the hooks into them:

We do not screw it in completely, but leave a gap of ~10 mm between the hooks and the wall, so that you can hang the boiler.

We hung the boiler:

A check valve, also called a safety valve, is screwed onto the cold supply:

The valve is included with all water heaters. It is needed to protect the water heater from excess pressure that occurs when water expands when heating it. I repeat: a safety valve is installed on the cold water supply pipeline.

Please note: there is an arrow on the valve body indicating the direction of water flow.

A few words about why install a valve if the boiler itself has a thermostat. But if the thermostat does not work and the water begins to boil, the pressure in the system rises, then the safety valve “gets involved”: it opens and relieves excess pressure.

Attention! Valves are designed for a certain pressure, which must be taken into account: if the valve is designed for a pressure less than in your system, then it will operate constantly.

And finally, we connect the water heater to the terminals water pipes, which should have taps:

It is clear that the pipe connections must be made in advance, at the design stage having determined where the water heater will be installed and where the pipes will be connected to it.

Features of boiler sockets

The socket must be installed in the bathroom with a protective cover. And the socket for the boiler must have its own automatic switch, so that you do not have to pull the socket every time, but turn it off with the switch (before taking a shower or bath, the boiler must be turned off so as not to get an electric shock through moist air).

Filling the water heater with water and turning it on after installation

To fill the boiler with water, open the tap a little at a time. cold water(a faucet that is specifically for the boiler, and not just any other one).

Important! There is no need to plug the boiler into the outlet yet!

Then we open the hot tap on the shower or bath mixer and... nothing should come out of it. We open the hot water supply from the water heater and wait for water to flow from the shower mixer.

It is clear that when the water heater is first filled, the water will not be hot (reminder: the boiler is not yet connected to the outlet!), the task now is to make sure that the water flows through the pipelines properly. It is advisable to remove the screens on the shower mixer so that possible debris can come out of the pipes and not clog the screens.

While the boiler is filling, we look to see if there are any leaks. If available, tighten the connections.

The water came out of the shower mixer - great. The boiler is full. We return the mesh to the mixer tap.

There is a queue to turn on the boiler. We set the relay regulator to zero. We plug the boiler into the socket. We set the temperature. It is better to read how to set the water temperature for a specific water heater model in the passport for this specific model, and not on Internet sites.

That's all about how to install a storage water heater.

P.S. On this step-by-step instruction on the installation of water supply and sewerage with your own hands is completed. Glad it helped you.

how to install a storage water heater

Unfortunately, our public utilities system is not able to meet the needs of the population for hot water supply. Therefore, you have to take the initiative into your own hands; the solution is to purchase an electric storage water heater. The rules for choosing are written in another article, but now let’s talk about how to properly install a storage water heater.

Mounting the water heater to the wall.

Due to storage tanks are often installed in cramped spaces, fastening to the walls must be done in such a way that there is a guarantee of reliability. A tank with a volume of up to 30 liters can be secured using ordinary plastic dowels of the appropriate diameter. More capacious models of water heaters require a special approach. In this case, it is necessary to choose a more reliable and durable fastener for the water heater. Depending on the material from which the supporting wall is constructed, there are different methods for mounting instantaneous water heaters.

Connecting the boiler to the electrical network.

During installation water heating tank In new buildings there are no special complaints about electrical wiring. If you plan to install a storage water heater in premises that were built a long time ago, you need to remember the following. The electrical wiring of such apartments is not designed for modern loads, so connecting devices such as a water heater washing machine must be carried out using a dedicated power line. The wire cross-section is selected depending on the power consumed by the tank.

We hang water heaters on plasterboard walls correctly

One of mandatory conditions Electrical safety is grounding of the device. But since installation of a storage water heater is often is carried out in buildings that are not equipped with a grounding line or loop, safe operation can be ensured by the use of an RCD (residual current device). The RCD disconnects the device from the supply network in the event of a phase wire break or a violation of its insulation.

Connecting the water heater to the water supply network.

Conventionally, connection diagrams can be divided into two types:

Installing a storage water heater will help you solve the problem of hot water supply, and will save you from having to run from the kitchen to the bathroom with buckets and pots, comfortable living conditions still play a decisive role in the quality of life.

WITH in English“boiler” is translated as a boiler, therefore, when we talk about a boiler, we mean a water heater with a storage boiler, in other words, a storage heater; how to choose a boiler is here. Sometimes called a boiler instantaneous water heater, although this is not entirely true. Let's consider the issue of connecting and installing a boiler with your own hands.

In general, there are a huge number of storage water heaters; they differ in many parameters, one of which is the volume of water that is placed in the tank. Typically, heaters are found with a volume from 10 to 150 liters. For those who live in ordinary city apartments, it is recommended to purchase small-volume boilers, as they are more compact in size. For country houses Large boilers are also suitable.

Let's talk about installing a boiler for 10 - 50 liters; by the way, the installation of any boilers is carried out according to the same scheme, the only difference is that large boilers have much stronger fastenings.

So, let's begin. For the best result, it is better to install a storage water heater in several stages; this is done so that the process is more understandable and no unnecessary questions arise.

Stage 1 – attaching the boiler to the wall.

This is perhaps the most main stage. A small boiler is attached to the wall, in the case when the tank is horizontal (it would be better to install it high), almost at the ceiling, and if the tank is vertical, then at the level of the person’s chest or head.

The fastening must be strong, since a boiler filled with water will weigh tens or even hundreds of kilograms. If the fastening was done poorly, the boiler will sooner or later fall, causing you great damage. And this one is not to mention the fact that it can fall on a person.

There are fasteners in the tank that are provided by the manufacturers; all of them must be used. Installation locations (anchor hooks, bolts) must be aligned horizontally and vertically, in other words, one side of the boiler should not be lower or higher than the other, otherwise the load will not be distributed evenly. Use a tape measure or slatted level to mark the mounting locations. After marking with a hammer drill, holes of the required diameter and depth are made in the marked areas. Next, the anchor bolts are inserted and tightened as tightly as possible using a wrench. Then, with anchor bolts the nuts are screwed together and the boiler is put on.

If the mounted tank big size, then to install it you will need another assistant who will hold the tank suspended while you screw it to the wall.

After you have installed the tank, you can begin supplying cold and hot water.

Stage 2 – supplying water.

There are two pipes coming from the water heating tank, which are marked different colors: blue for cold water, red for hot. We take one of them, since at first only one type of water is connected, for example, cold, and we wrap tow on it. Then we lubricate the latter with unipak and screw on the tee. A tap is placed on the side of the tee (it will serve as an emergency drain, since the drain provided by the manufacturer is too small). The relief valve is placed on bottom part tee. They place it with the arrow pointing down, and it is intended to control overheating and pressure. Besides, relief valve does not allow leakage cold water when the water is completely turned off.

Now we install a shut-off valve at the very bottom, and then a threaded adapter. At the end everything is installed into the water supply. After this, we connect the hot tap (for this you need a shut-off valve) and immediately after it, through an adapter, there is a connection to the water supply.

Stage 3 – connecting the boiler to the electrical wiring.

This stage is carried out at the very end of the installation.

what to hang the water heater on?

Remember that the boiler consumes a lot of electricity, so there are a number of requirements for the wiring:

  • the cable must have a cross-section of 2 - 2.5 square;
  • an automatic 16-amp switch should act as protection;
  • the branch for the boiler should go straight from the panel and close to the meter.

    Modern boiler models have a special connection for connecting to the electrical network, but the outlet must still meet all of the above requirements.

At this point, installing the boiler yourself can be considered complete.

How to mount a water heater on a thin wall

Our answer: in any case, you need to consider your situation separately. But fixing a water heater even on a thin wall is possible. Special fasteners for walls or ceilings will help you. You definitely need to turn to a specialist for this task, since you cannot do it yourself.

Explanation: the main fear of everyone is that a thin wall simply will not support the weight of an 80 or even 50 liter boiler. However, many plumbing masters calmly attach such boilers even to plasterboard walls. How does this work? Usually special fasteners are used for these cases, which are attached either to the walls or to the ceiling. Sometimes they use both here and there for greater strength. You won’t be able to do it yourself, because in this case you will simply need a huge practical experience masters

Is it possible to mount a water heater on a thin wall?

In fact, according to the right technologies fastenings, the wall should be almost load-bearing, the structure should be so strong. However, in our case this is not always the case and sometimes it is necessary to solve a problem that has already arisen. You won't put new wall, or buy another apartment just to fix the boiler. Therefore, your only task is to find a suitable craftsman who will agree to make the fastening for your case.

If you still have good practical experience in fastening heavy structures to thin walls, pay attention to the possibility of installing additional fasteners that will stick horizontally into side walls. Thus, the fasteners will be held on three walls at once. Also think about the fact that some of the fastenings can be made to the ceiling, which is often stronger than all the other walls in the house.

Try it, don't worry. If you have not yet bought a boiler, then first call a specialist and discuss the problem with him, and also consult what size boiler will be the safest to hang on your wall. And if you already have a boiler, then just call a specialist and solve the existing problem.
