Justification of the problem and need

Once I was shopping and saw a very beautiful shirt, but our family couldn’t afford such a shirt. Then I thought: “Well, should I sew him a shirt myself?” After some time, I asked my mother to buy me fabric, threads, lace, a button, in general, everything I needed for the shirt I saw, and after a couple of days I began to cut it. In the end, I made myself a shirt. My friends became interested in my shirt, and one of them even asked me to sew the same one for her! I've been wearing my shirt for ten months now. My shirt pleases my eyes!

Scheme of deliberation

Identifying key parameters and limitations

The nightgown that I will sew for myself must meet the following

Requirements:

It should be beautiful and correspond to the modern fashion trend.

Future nightdress should fit well and fit appearance girls.

The decoration of the nightgown must be original, match the style of the product, its purpose and harmoniously match the color of the top.

A nightgown should be comfortable and practical.

As simple as possible to manufacture.

Must be sewn neatly and efficiently.

Have an economically viable cost.

Theoretical information

Cotton fabrics have significant strength, lightness, and softness. They are beautiful, comfortable to wear, create a feeling of warmth, easily absorb moisture and dry quickly, are well breathable, and are easy to wash.

Cotton fabrics have a rough matte surface with uniform thread thickness. These fabrics have greater elongation in the weft and less in the warp, and low thread fraying. Fabrics made from pure cotton are characterized by high creaseability, but are easily ironed. They shrink when washed (shrinking along the warp thread).

History and modernity

Nowadays, it is difficult to find a woman who does not have a nightgown in her night wardrobe. Such products are distinguished by a variety of styles, materials and colors. A nightgown can not only provide a comfortable sleep, but also emphasize your advantages female figure, are elements of an erotic wardrobe. Today there are various women's shirts They fit so organically into our lives that it is difficult to imagine a time when these clothes were not in use.

Such times really existed - until the 14th century, women either slept naked or slept in what they wore during the day. They had to sleep in uncomfortable outerwear or naked. What was the main reason for the creation of the nightgown is unknown today. Either it was too cold to sleep naked, or it was not possible to rest properly in outer clothing.

The first mention of special sleepwear appeared in the Czech Republic in the 15th century, where they spoke of a “bedroom skirt”. At that time the nightgown was very large sizes- wide and long, and only wealthy people could afford this piece of clothing.

Only in the 19th century did the nightgown become more accessible and became widespread, becoming an integral element of both women's (women's nightgown) and men's wardrobe (men's nightgown) - many men also slept in similar clothes. In addition, a shirt was no longer considered a luxury as before. Thanks to this accessibility, every woman had the opportunity to diversify her wardrobe with several models of nightgowns. Even in those days, different styles of such products were used. The most popular were strict, classic models nightgowns, which were made of cotton or linen. Women from wealthy families preferred luxurious models made of natural silk. Such shirts were usually decorated with expensive lace. Thanks to this, they looked more like a dress than sleepwear.

Since then, a variety of shirts have never left the women's night wardrobe. But men no longer sleep in such clothes - they prefer to wear pajamas or something else.

Nightgowns, which were worn in our country just a couple of decades ago, were quite ugly - wide and shapeless, made of unattractive and uncomfortable fabrics. Most often, such nightgowns were made of satin, cotton or flannel. And even “getting” such a product in a store was considered a great happiness. Due to the total shortage, women had to sit down to eat Sewing machines and make your own nightgowns. Few people were capable of creating erotic masterpieces, and it was not accepted at that time. Usually they sewed very simple shirts from chintz or calico, although some craftswomen did not forget that lingerie should be sexy, so sometimes more miniature versions appeared with lace inserts, mainly in the chest area.

Now every woman can afford to have several shirts for different purposes - a simple cotton shirt of a classic cut for warmth, you can choose a sports shirt, or choose a shirt made of natural silk, short or long, reminiscent of an evening dress, overtly sexy, open, with lace inserts on the chest, ruffled trims.

Nightgowns made from fabrics with a silky texture will perfectly highlight a woman's seductiveness. The materials for such nightgowns can be satin, chiffon, crepe de chine, cambric, and lace. Such shirts can be decorated with lace, ruffles and even rhinestones.

In addition, because Russia is not a tropical country; in the cold season, you can and should think about nightgowns made of thin, soft, pleasant-to-touch knitwear.

Having seen the inscription “women's nightgowns” on the window and looking there with the desire to buy a nightgown, everyone will understand that nightgowns are not necessarily just comfortable and beautiful clothes for sleeping. Today's nightgowns can be very elegant and sophisticated clothing.

Only from natural fabrics that can provide a healthy, comfortable sleep. We select for our collection models made from cotton fabrics, sometimes with a small amount of synthetic additives that increase the elasticity and wear resistance of the products. The main requirements that we place on our sleepwear are that they do not restrict movement and that the fabric allows the body to “breathe” normally.

Probably the most popular material for pajamas and nightgowns is knitted fabrics. The French tricotage means “knitted things”, i.e. All these fabrics have a knitted structure, but different for each type.

Knitted fabrics

Kulirka (kulirka)

Density 120 - 165 g/m2

Of all knitted fabrics, kulirka is the thinnest. Usually made from 100% cotton. The fabric is distinguished by a special system of weaving thread components, so it only stretches across. The front and back sides of the fabric look different: small vertical braids on the smooth front side, and waves running in parallel rows on the back.

Products made from kulirka retain their shape well and do not shrink when washed and dried. Creases can be easily removed by simply smoothing them out. The fabric does not require special care. It is best to wash such products in a delicate cycle at a temperature not exceeding 40 0 C. They are used for sewing nightgowns, pajamas, dressing gowns and light summer clothes.

Interlock

Density 180 - 200 g/m2

Cotton knitted fabric is double weave, resulting in a fabric that is very durable and less stretchy. Both on the inside and on the outside the fabric is equally smooth and soft to the touch.

Products made from interlock “breathe” well, are denser and warmer than those made from kulirka, and retain their shape and color after repeated washing. It is used for sewing all linen knitwear, bathrobes, and sportswear.

Footer

Fabric density: two-thread 170 - 250 g/m2, three-thread 300 - 365 g/m2

The densest knitted fabric can be two-thread or three-thread. Thanks to the complex lined weave of threads, the front part of the fabric has a smooth texture, like a cooler, and back side- with fleece.

From the wrong side of the fabric, a lining thread (black in the figure) is knitted in looped broaches, which creates a dense pile.

The products are strong and wear-resistant and do not stretch. The fabric is soft, but most importantly, warm. Clothes made from footer are practical and functional: they carry a large number of washes, after drying, clothes can be worn without ironing. The only condition is that such things need to be washed turned out on the face, backcombed inward, so that pills do not appear. Footer is used to make warm pajamas and nightgowns, dressing gowns and trousers, sweatshirts and tracksuits, and children's overalls.

Viscose

Density 140 - 180 g/m2

The only one artificial material of natural origin, for the production of which recycled wood pulp is used. Viscose is very rarely used as an independent fabric; more often it is the main component of knitted fabrics, to which polyester, elastane, cotton, etc. are added. For the production of home clothes, viscose with 5% elastane is usually used - the fabric is stretchy, bright colors, with a beautiful shiny texture. In terms of its qualities, viscose is very similar to the finest silk and has a pleasant to the touch base. Viscose products are light in weight, absorb moisture well, do not cause allergies, and do not electrify. Thanks to natural bases, the fabric dyes well, does not fade or lose its original shape. Clothing made of viscose is universal for all seasons: in winter it warms, and in hot weather it feels cool.

Products made from viscose require delicate care. They should be washed in a gentle cycle, and better with your hands, at a temperature of no more than 30-40 0 C. There is no need to twist or wring out the clothes with force, just let the water drain completely, and in this case the shape and dimensions will be preserved. There is no need to heat the iron when ironing. It is best to steam things when wet.

Chintz

Density 80-100 g/m2

Perhaps one of the most famous fabrics in our country, as they say, is well known. Many people think that chintz is a Russian fabric, our ancestral one. However, such material first appeared in the 11th century in India, and in Russia production began only in the second half of the 18th century. Among the first we had the Bolshoi Ivanovo Manufactory, opened in Ivanovo-Voznesensk, now the city of Ivanovo.

Chintz is a cotton fabric of the simplest plain weave, in which one warp thread corresponds to one weft thread. This ease of manufacture and availability of raw materials ensure low cost finished material and products made from it.

Clothing made from chintz is considered one of the best for summer. The fabric is light, perfectly breathable, the skin can breathe freely, the unpleasant phenomena of sweating and stiffness of movement are completely absent.

But chintz also has its drawbacks: the products shrink and wrinkle quite a lot, over time the colors fade, and the strength of the fabric deteriorates. Everything is compensated by the low price; after 1.5 - 2 years, calico products can be replaced. To extend service life and keep longer appearance calico products, it is enough to follow a few simple rules: new thing rinse with hands cold water; wash at a temperature of no more than 50 0 C without bleaching; dry in the shade, turning inside out; iron things under-dried, in a damp state.

The fabric is so versatile that it is used for sewing sleepwear, summer dresses, bed linen, tablecloths and curtains.

Flannel

Density 170-260 g/m2

It is rightfully considered one of the softest and most pleasant to the touch fabrics. This material retains heat excellently and reliably protects from the cold, without being inferior to wool. Cotton flannel fabric comes in different weaves: plain and twill, but always very dense, such that you cannot see a gap between the threads.

A very durable base allows the product to be used for a long time. The fabric always has a pile, which occurs only on the wrong side, but sometimes on both. New clothes Flannel may seem a bit harsh, but after each wash the material becomes softer. Flannel provides a calm and healthy sleep, does not cause allergic reactions and irritation.

Flannel is characterized by simple and uncomplicated care, but it still has disadvantages: if washed at temperatures above 40 0 C, the fabric may shrink; After washing, flannel takes a long time to dry; pellets may form on the pile after prolonged use.

Cotton flannel is used for sewing pajamas, nightgowns, dressing gowns, as well as men's shirts and underwear for newborns.

Batiste

Density of cotton cambric 70-110 g/m2

Cotton, linen or synthetic fabric with a simple linen, but very rare weave of threads (20 - 30 threads per square cm). At the same time, the thinnest and smoothest combed yarn from long fibers is used to produce cambric. Therefore, the canvas turns out to be very light and translucent, with a smooth and shiny dense surface.

For the first time, cambric fabrics appeared in India in the 13th century; in the 17th century, their production began in Europe in France. It is believed that the best cambric fabric today is made in France, Belgium and Italy. It is also the most expensive. The nightgowns presented on our website are made from Indian cotton, plain-dyed cambric, which is cheaper than European ones, but of fairly good quality.

Batiste is one of the most beautiful, light and sophisticated fabrics. Products made from it are of course more expensive than those made from other cotton fabrics. They are often decorated with embroidery and trimmed with lace.

Cotton cambric is also good because clothes made from it are not hot in the summer, the fabric is very pleasant to the body, the products hold their shape perfectly, do not shrink or stretch after washing. The only disadvantage of cambric is its fragility, which can be corrected if certain rules are followed. Most The best way care for cambric products - hand wash. If you prefer the machine option, then you need to turn on the delicate mode. Optimal temperature- up to 30 0 C. Do not mix cambric with other types of materials when washing. And of course, you can’t squeeze or twist it.

In sewing sleepwear, shirt fabric is used, the variety of articles of which amounts to hundreds of items. This article will discuss the most popular of them.

Types of materials for shirts

In ancient times in Rus', people slept in whatever they needed.

During the reign of Peter the Great, following European fashion, first the nobility and the clergy, and then the common people, began to put on special clothes before going to bed - nightgowns.

Now the choice of fabric for a shirt is very extensive, but previously it could only be sewn from the most popular material - linen. Silks were extremely rarely used for the production of such products - materials that were expensive and inaccessible to most in those days.

Over time, people fell in love with the shirts so much that they began to be separated into separate clothing collections. Some fabrics are used for sewing summer products, and others for winter models. There is even a group of demi-season shirts. Classic options Such clothes are worn at any time of the year.

Summer

When sewing shirts for hot summer nights, they use different types fabrics, the most important requirement for which is the ability to pass air. Most often, models consist of the following materials:

  1. Chintz. This fabric belongs to the cotton category. It is created by plain weaving and has a delicate and fine texture.
  2. Calico is a hygienic, lightweight and wear-resistant material. Unlike chintz, calico has high strength.
  3. Satin is very resistant to abrasion, so it is quite durable. In terms of its properties, satin is almost no different from silk - natural or artificial. This material can consist of both natural and synthetic fibers.
  4. – translucent material, absolutely safe for allergy sufferers. It is very thin and hygroscopic, and is used for sewing nightgowns with exquisite designs.
  5. A veil is a light transparent fabric, most often used in the production of erotic collections of shirts.

Winter

The main requirement for the selection of materials for a winter nightgown is the ability to retain heat. One cannot fail to take into account sleep hygiene, which presupposes the ability of products to provide comfort to the body during rest. The choice of fabrics for sewing these types of shirts is small:

  1. The bike is an ergonomic natural material. It has a fleecy soft surface that provides excellent thermal insulation and comfort.
  2. Flannel is a wool, half-wool or cotton material. There is a soft brush on both sides of the flannel fabric. This fabric is pleasant to the touch and very beautiful.
  3. Bumazeya is a kind of flannel. It is produced only by twill weave, and has a pile on only one side. Its properties are similar to flannel.

DIY nightgown (video):

Demi-season

In the production of nightgowns for the off-season period, materials of medium surface density and thickness. They are usually made using plain or twill weave. The range of materials for demi-season shirts is extensive, so let’s look at the most common ones:

  1. Rep is a dense and heavy material with scars on the surface.
  2. Zephyrin is a low-stretch, dense material with a sparse longitudinal scar. It is made from combed yarn.
  3. Poplin is 100% natural cotton material, characterized by its high density. This fabric has a soft texture, making it very comfortable for the skin of the body.
  4. Tartan is a multi-colored, high-quality fabric. The fabric has high density, stretches well and does not cause difficulties during sewing.

Classical matters

Len has not left the sphere of production of things for sleeping. Although now it is not the only material from which nightgowns can be sewn, many people choose this particular fabric due to its excellent qualities. Linen nighties are warm in winter and cool on hot summer nights. The skin underneath natural material can “breathe” calmly, thanks to which the night’s rest is truly high-quality.

Both main types of silk - natural and artificial - belong to the category of classic shirt fabrics. Shirts made from natural silk are elite, expensive models. The surface of silk is shiny, it is a translucent and iridescent material.

In nightwear made of artificial and synthetic silk, the body is no less pleasant. The products are distinguished by their sophistication and lightness due to the texture and properties of the material.

The composition of such silk may include other fibers to improve clothing models.

Composition and properties

The fabrics that make up nightgowns have different composition, structure, finishing and weave of threads. The properties are almost identical if we consider them based on group affiliation.

Natural materials guarantee high hygienic characteristics of products. They allow air to pass through well, do not cause allergies and are quite wear-resistant. Synthetic fabrics are very durable, they do not shrink and practically do not wrinkle.

Nowadays, fabrics for shirts that imitate natural motifs have come into fashion: tree bark and foliage, animal skins and reptile skin. Classic lace is often replaced by new bright prints, effects and unusual finishes.

Features of care

Regardless of what fabric you choose, you will have to take care of it carefully. Even if high-quality fabric is used in sewing the product, it requires delicate, careful care:

  • It is better to wash shirts by hand, or in washing machine separate from other things;
  • Products cannot be bleached or machine dried;
  • You can iron at low temperatures without using steam.

Thus, the choice of the modern nightgown buyer is not limited by anything. You can choose fashionable or familiar classic models, comfortable and extravagant, simple and exclusive, made from the same or several fabrics.

Finding sleepwear is not as easy a task as it might seem at first glance. After all, the requirements for it are very strict - it must be comfortable, beautiful, high quality and harmless.

The best material for sewing a nightgown

Today, sewing companies use various fabrics to produce nightgowns. There are products made from unsuitable materials that make a woman’s sleep uncomfortable and tiring. Especially it concerns synthetic materials. The practice of manufacturers and the life experience of consumers show that a better material for making sleepwear cannot be found than natural knitwear. These are the clothes that are most comfortable to sleep in. It is what promotes a healthy, full night's rest. Sewing products from of this material have excellent quality characteristics:

    • softness;
    • hygiene;
    • ease of washing;
    • environmental friendliness;
    • aerodynamic (permeable to air);
    • strength;
    • variety of colors;
    • permanent coloring.

Due to these factors, knitted fabric for sewing women's nightgowns is an ideal natural material. It is profitable and best to purchase shirts in bulk from a reputable manufacturer.

Sleepwear tailored to your figure

A woman should not neglect the opportunity to look seductive and elegant in nightgown. After all, this type of clothing can safely be called in a great way male seduction on a par with lingerie and negligees. Therefore, it is important to choose the right style of shirt.

For obese women, elongated plain models or models with vertical stripes or pattern lines are suitable. In order to hide the shortcomings of a full figure, it is better not to purchase shirts with a yoke. Such a detail in a shirt can visually expand a full figure. The best option there will be a tight-fitting bodice, tied under the chest with a ribbon or elastic band, something like a dress a la Natasha Rostova. A full figure in such a nightgown will look elegant, sexy and appetizing.

Short shirts with straps that reveal slender legs are suitable for slender women. The colors in such models can be the most original and varied. For slender figures, both tight-fitting models and flared, curvy versions are suitable. They will look original big flowers and horizontal lines of the drawing.

How did nightgowns come about?

In the Middle Ages, many women spent their nights naked, because... good fabrics were in short supply, and not everyone could afford a special nightgown. But, already at that time, wealthy ladies allowed themselves to dress in wide and long clothes for sleeping, because... it was believed that the more a lady covers her body, the more chaste she is. Over time, the nightgown became an integral part of women's everyday life, and by the 18th century it occupied its position very firmly. At this time, almost all women had nightgowns, even the poor, not to mention wealthy ladies who could have a whole wardrobe of nightgowns. For young girls, nightgowns could even be above the knee length, embroidered with ruffles and flounces; they were the subject of fantasy for many men. For ladies above middle age, nightgowns were floor-length, made of expensive fabrics, embroidered with pearls, exquisite lace, and could be as expensive as evening dresses. Already by the 20th century, with the advent and dominance of mass production, nightgowns became simpler. Several styles stood out, which became increasingly simplified with the heyday of the era of feminization.

Nowadays, the choice of nightgowns, as well as other products of the clothing industry, is truly huge. Designers pay a lot of attention to the so-called “bedding linen”. Entire collections are produced, consisting of nightgowns, dressing gowns, pajamas, and sleepwear.
