The easiest way to arrange a garage roof is to cover it with roofing felt. It's cheap, reliable and practical. As a rule, a couple of reinforced concrete slabs, on which a water-repellent layer is applied. Let's consider, how to fill a garage roof with bitumen.

First of all, we note that in such a pitched roof there are two vulnerabilities: joints between walls and slabs and joints between slabs. In the vast majority of cases, such roofs are covered with roofing felt.

Preparing the roof surface

When you decide how to fill a garage roof, it is necessary to clean the surface before waterproofing. To do this, remove various debris and sweep away dust. Damp roofs need to be thoroughly dried. If your garage is in the shade, you can use a blowtorch to dry it out.

In cases where the garage was previously covered, you can inspect it for defects: peeling, swelling, holes, etc. If the coating is loose, it must be removed and cleaned. The swellings are cut, water is removed and leveled.

Let's start pouring the roof

The evenness of the roof and its area mainly determine the bitumen consumption. So, for a covering area of 30 sq.m. 15-20 liters of bitumen will be quite enough.

Melt the material and prepare a primer - a special priming mixture for roofing felt. To do this, you must carefully add molten bitumen to gasoline, constantly stirring the resulting mixture. Never pour gasoline into bitumen! This may cause a fire!

You will need to prepare two gasoline/bitumen compositions: 30x70, which will be used as a primer, and 70x30, which will be a mastic. Using the first one, it is necessary to fill all cracks, crevices and peelings. The second is used to level the roof surface. Try not to fill the bitumen with a layer of more than 5 mm, otherwise it will simply crack during frosts.

If you are repairing the roof of your garage, then apply an additional patch of roofing felt to the damaged areas. Use a torch to glue it. Increase the temperature of the material until it becomes very shiny. Warm up the roof surface in the same way. It is important to carefully press the hot material over the entire area - this way you can get a durable coating.

Next, the roof must be covered with lining roofing material. Its laying is done from the bottom up, trying to get an overlap of 15 cm. Do not forget to warm it well and trample the material in non-glued areas. Remember that the better the quality of the resulting coating, the longer it can last. If the material is poorly trampled, then condensation will form in places with air, which will lead to the destruction of the roofing material.

Finishing the pouring of the garage roof

At the next stage, it is necessary to pour a thin layer of bitumen mastic. The material is applied in two layers perpendicular to each other. The edges need to be rolled up and secured securely with slate nails on the back side. Cover the surface with mastic again. Treat the joints with a thick primer, which will increase the quality of adhesion of the material.

Next, we proceed to laying the outer layer. It has a coarse powder on it that protects the roofing felt from destructive weather influences. Finally, check the quality of the joints, the width of the overlap, the fit - if everything is in order, fix the edges. This completes the installation of the garage roof. Work is done!

If you think how to fill a garage roof, take a close look at the mastic. At correct execution work, the material can last over 10 years, it is inexpensive and will provide reliable protection. There is also euroruberoid and rubemast. They will last even longer, but they also cost an order of magnitude more. But it is better to avoid using resin - a roof filled with it will very quickly leak.

Violation of the integrity of the garage roofing sooner or later results in leaks, serious destruction of the roofing materials, and the appearance of dampness and mold inside the room. Ultimately, the car and other property stored in the garage may be damaged. In order for your own garage roof repair to give the desired result, you need to choose the optimal work technology.

Preparing for garage roof repair

On preparatory stage You should carefully inspect the roof surface. Based on the type of damage, the following measures are taken::

  • local repairs (individual damage is eliminated);
  • restoration of the coating (filling numerous small cracks over the entire surface area with bituminous material or laying a new outer layer);
  • major renovation(replacement of all roofing pie with a high degree of wear).

Before starting repair work, it is important to thoroughly clean the roof surface from debris and dirt and dry it well. Roof repair work should be planned for days when the weather is dry, warm, but not hot.

Local garage roof repair

Local damage to the roofing carpet of flat garage roofs includes:

  • individual cracks;
  • swelling of the coating;
  • ruptures on the surface of the coating;
  • peeling at seams, etc.

Damaged areas must be thoroughly cleaned of dirt and dried. For this purpose, the places of ruptures are opened with a cross-shaped incision (“envelope”), the cracks expand. Small damaged areas can also be cut out with an ax, making a rectangular “window” to a depth of 3-4 layers of roofing carpet.

For local repairs of roofing material made of roofing felt or built-up materials, bitumen is used, which requires heating, or ready-made cold mastic, as well as a material similar to the top layer of the coating.

Cold bitumen mastic for local repairs is most suitable for sealing deep cracks and minor damage. It can also be used to apply patches. Heated bitumen resin is used to fill any damaged areas, including cracks and cut-out “windows”, and it is important to ensure that the resin penetrates into the furthest and most inaccessible areas.

To repair the damaged area opened by the “envelope”, it is necessary to use patches. The first of them is cut to the size of the “envelope” and placed inside on a base well coated with bitumen. The bent edges of the coating must also be thoroughly coated with bitumen and pressed tightly to the surface. The external patch should extend beyond the edges of the repaired area by 150-200 mm. It is laid on a layer of bitumen mastic or heated resin and smoothed tightly.

Blisters in the outer covering need to be cut, air released, coated with mastic and pressed tightly. Seams that have lost their tightness are cleaned of old mastic, dried, and re-glued using bitumen material.

If the surface of the repaired area is covered with bitumen, it is recommended to pour a layer of sand on top to protect the bituminous material from ultraviolet radiation. UV radiation makes bitumen brittle, which shortens the lifespan of the repaired roof.

Garage resurfacing

A flat garage roof covered with affordable roofing felt requires regular inspection even if there are no leaks. This material Over time, it ages and may become covered with a network of shallow cracks. To prevent more serious damage, it is necessary to create a high-quality waterproofing top layer of the roofing carpet.

To extend the life of the roofing carpet for several years without significant financial costs, it is recommended to seal cracks using bitumen resin. The technology of work is quite simple: heated resin is poured onto the roof surface and leveled using suitable tools. Bitumen material fills microcracks and creates a waterproof coating.

A more durable and functional coating can be created using bitumen mastic intended for cold application. This material is purified petroleum bitumen with various additives that help increase the strength and elasticity of the material, reduce fragility, and ensure the coating’s resistance to temperature changes.

Such insulating material will reliably protect the roof from moisture and subsequent biological destruction of the lining layers of the roofing carpet. When repairing with mastic, the surface must be clean and dry. The cold applied working composition is leveled using a brush or spatula. The mastic layer, after drying, turns into a strong, durable coating, completely impermeable to moisture.

Laying the outer covering

If the roofing carpet is in reasonably good condition, but the outer layer has suffered serious wear and tear, quality repairs it is enough to lay a new external flooring. It is first necessary to eliminate all existing local damage by filling gaps and cracks with bitumen mastic, removing swelling. It is important to thoroughly clean the surface, removing old mastic and dirt, and also dry the coating thoroughly.

Classic roofing material or fused roofing material can be used as an external covering. Repairing a garage roof or other roll fusing material is much easier since it does not require the use of molten resin, but in this case it is noticeably higher financial expenses for repairs.

Laying roofing felt on the garage roof

Installation of roofing felt is carried out on a layer of tar (molten bitumen). The resin needs to be heated over an open fire in a tin bucket until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream. The rolled material must be rolled out at least a day before installation so that it can straighten out - this will simplify installation and significantly reduce the likelihood of air bubbles.

Sections of the roof are covered with resin as work progresses on laying sheets of rolled material. The roofing felt strips must be installed with an overlap of 100-150 mm, carefully coating the joint with resin.

During the installation process, air bubbles may appear under the already installed coating. In these places you need to make a cut with a knife, press the material tightly to the base, and then coat the cut area well with bitumen. Using roofing felt, you can create a high-quality waterproof sheet that can reliably protect your garage. If the covering is installed on top of an old roofing pie, it is enough to lay it in one layer.

Installation of overlay coating

Welded coating roll roofing laid using a gas torch. On the back side of the material there is a special layer of oxidized bitumen. When heated, it quickly and efficiently adheres to the prepared base.

At the beginning of work, you should carefully roll out the roll to 500-600 mm. The reverse side should be heated using a gas burner, and then press the material to the surface with a T-shaped stick. Next, the roll is rolled out another half meter and the operation is repeated. The next strip is mounted with an overlap of 70-80 mm over the first.

The weak point of a garage roof is the connections between the roof and its neighbors. It is at these joints that material delamination, cracks and ruptures primarily occur. During repairs, special attention should be paid to these edges of the coating.

Major garage roof repairs

During major roof repairs, the old roofing carpet must be completely removed from the garage roof. The base of the roof is cleared of debris and, if necessary, leveled with a screed. Roofing carpet flat roof garage should consist of five layers made of roll materials .

The lining layers are mounted from uncoated material (lining roofing felt, glassine) - there is no protective coating on its outer side, which ensures the most dense and reliable adhesion of the layers.

For installation of the top layer in mandatory applies cover material, equipped with an outer layer of refractory bitumen with a coating that provides protection from mechanical damage and ultraviolet radiation. The topping can be coarse-grained, fine-grained or dusty.

The technology for installing roofing carpet is selected based on the characteristics of the materials used. This can be laid on molten bitumen or using a gas burner. It is important to install the covering strips of the upper layers with a shift relative to the lower one so that the joints do not coincide - this guarantees the creation of a reliable waterproof roof covering.

Before installing the roofing carpet, the base of the garage roof must be treated with tar, heated bitumen, or a mixture of both. This will ensure high adhesion of the roofing material and increase the reliability of the coating.

You can repair a garage roof alone, but it is recommended to work with a partner, especially when it comes to laying roofing felt on tar. In addition, safety rules must be observed, since:

  • for resin preparation and when working with gas burner open flame is used;
  • work is carried out at a height of about two meters - a fall from it is fraught with fractures, including life-threatening ones.

To renovated roofing served for as long as possible, it is important to strictly follow the work technology and use quality materials.

The garage is a second home. At least for a man. And if the wife maintains order in the apartment, then in the garage the husband deals with rearranging, cleaning and repairs. True, often the matter is not limited to ordinary floor washing; you have to repair the floor, the gate, and even repair the garage roof yourself. Well, how could it be otherwise! There must be order in everything! It’s about the roof and how to patch holes in it with your own with my own hands and will be discussed in this article.

Garage roof repair methods

In fact, one or another method of repairing a garage roof depends on the building itself, the type of roof and the degree of wear of the structure. As a rule, in private households, where the garage is separate from the house itself, inexpensive roofing materials with long term services. This is corrugated sheeting, metal tiles, flexible tiles and ondulin. Collective garages are unlikely to be covered with corrugated sheets or tiles; here it would be more appropriate soft materials on a bitumen basis.

In this regard, there are three ways to repair a roof in a garage:

  1. Using hot bitumen
  2. Using soft roofing materials
  3. Using corrugated sheets or tiles

Preparing the roof for repair work

First of all, it is necessary to determine the degree of wear of the roof and identify those elements that require replacement. In addition, you should stock up special equipment and some free time. The fastest way to repair a garage roof is with the use of sheet and roll materials, but with piece materials (tiles, for example), you will have to tinker. See for yourself: one sheet of corrugated sheeting can cover up to 9 sq.m of surface, and a sheet of flexible tiles can cover 0.14 sq.m. It turns out that in order to cover the same 9 sq.m. you will have to attach 63 sheets of tiles to the roof surface, and this will take a lot of time and effort.

So, before you start repair work Remove all debris from the roof and especially thoroughly clean the most problematic areas. Carefully inspect the roof; perhaps everything is not so bad and you can limit yourself to only patches and not a complete replacement of the roof. If the old materials are still suitable, then simply cut out the holes with an ax in those places that you consider problematic - in the future you will patch them up and thereby return the roof to its former reliability.

If the roof of your garage was covered with soft roofing materials such as roofing felt, then you may notice cracks or swelling on its surface. Such defects must be eliminated before repair. To do this, take sharp knife and cut the flaw crosswise. Bend the resulting triangles so that they do not puff up and do not interfere with your free movement on the roof, and thoroughly clean all their “insides” from dust and debris. Later, you will fill these holes with bitumen, thereby preventing leaks.

Garage roof repair using hot bitumen

If you decide to repair your garage roof yourself using hot bitumen, you will have to stock up on:

  • bitumen - ½ bag
  • a bucket - which is not a pity
  • rope - to lift the bucket onto the roof
  • stairs - otherwise how will you get up to the garage
  • metal hook - for convenient lifting of the bucket
  • wood and gasoline - for making a fire
  • bricks - for the construction of a “barbecue”
  • brush - for cleaning problem areas from dirt
  • gloves.

After clearing the garage roof of debris and dirt, start heating the bitumen. To do this, you need to light a fire and build something similar to a barbecue grill - you will place a bucket of bitumen on it. When the material warms up and becomes plastic, you can begin pouring it.

Lift the bucket onto the roof and fill it with hot bitumen problem areas, giving the material direction using wooden board. You can “patch” the entire surface in this way, or you can only patch those flaws that are the source of leakage during rain. Be especially careful to fill the previously cut holes. Make sure that the bitumen fills them to the top without leaving any the slightest chance for water.

Garage roof repair with soft roofing materials

Soft roofing materials include roofing felt and bicrost. The first is laid on bitumen mastic, the second is fused using a gas burner. Accordingly, we can conclude that bicrost is much easier to install, because you don’t have to bother with mastic.

Ruberoid

Repairing a garage roof with roofing felt is also not difficult. If you decide that you don’t need a major overhaul with a complete replacement of the roof, then simply cut out several pieces of roofing felt and fill the cut holes with it. The cut must completely correspond to the size of the holes, otherwise all the work will be in vain.

First, resin or bitumen mastic is applied inside the hole. Then a piece of roofing felt is laid, and another layer of bitumen is laid on top. There is no need to wait for it to dry, but you must immediately return the bent triangles to their place. Now all that remains is to patch up the resulting cuts with another patch. The main thing is that the size of the piece is several centimeters larger than the damaged area. Apply an additional layer of mastic on top of the patch - this way you are more likely to achieve the desired result.

The next step (if, of course, you decide to completely cover the roof) is to completely waterproof the roof using roofing felt. The panels are laid on a layer of tar, which must be applied in parts as the work progresses. The strips of roofing material are overlapped by 10-15 centimeters. If bubbles appear during installation, they are cut with a knife, and the cut points are pressed tightly against the roof surface and additionally coated with tar.

Pay special attention to where your garage roof connects to neighboring roofs. As a rule, cracks and peeling of old materials form at these joints.

Using roofing felt, a single, almost solid, canvas is created that prevents moisture from penetrating into the room. In most cases, one layer of material is enough, but a double carpet is used in cases where either the operating conditions are quite difficult or the weather conditions leave much to be desired.

The cost of repairing a garage roof using roofing felt will be about 500-600 rubles. This amount includes the roofing felt itself (210-300 rubles per roll of 10-15 meters), resin or bitumen - 100 rubles per bag and available materials (if you don’t have any in your arsenal).

Bikrost

With bicrost everything is much simpler, because this material does not require the use of bitumen mastic or tar. A gas burner is used for its installation, and it is attached to the roof surface using a special layer of oxidized bitumen, which quickly and easily adheres to the base.

Carefully roll out the roll to 50-60 centimeters. Heat the underside with a gas torch and press this piece to the roof surface using a T-shaped stick. With your feet on the fresh roof, roll out the roll another half meter and heat the underside again with a burner. The second strip must be laid overlapping the first by 7-8 centimeters.

Thus, to repair a standard city garage roof you will only need an hour and a half, whereas with roofing felt or bitumen you will have to spend much longer. True, if bikrost is used to repair a garage roof, the price of this same repair will increase from 500 rubles to 1,500 rubles, since the material being deposited is much more expensive than roofing felt.

Garage roof repair using corrugated sheets and metal tiles

In private households, the garage is, as a rule, a separate building. The roof of such a structure is usually made of rigid roofing materials such as corrugated sheets, flexible tiles or metal tiles. Replacing a damaged sheet of corrugated sheeting is not difficult, but sometimes situations arise when you need to completely replace the roof.

Corrugated sheet

For this you will need Circular Saw, tape measure and screwdriver. Scat separately standing garage consists of solid sheets of corrugated sheets that will not increase in length, as, for example, in the case of metal tiles. The overlap in this case will be lateral, so one wave will be quite enough. Since the width of one sheet is slightly more than a meter, then for a standard garage 5 meters long you will need five sheets of corrugated sheets.

In one of upper corners Install the first sheet using a screwdriver, but do not immediately fasten it tightly. Next, secure two more sheets and check that the line of the roof ridge matches the edges of the sheets. After all the sheets have been aligned, secure them completely. Upper and bottom part the corrugated sheeting is fastened through the wave, and its middle is staggered.

Metal tiles

Metal tiles are attached from bottom to top. It is fastened using self-tapping screws equipped with a rubber gasket (you can buy them, or you can make them yourself). The sheets of tiles are laid overlapping, and for their reliable fixation there are special latches at the top and bottom of the sheet. In principle, everything is quick and simple, however, the cost of tiles is quite high, which means you will have to shell out a considerable amount of money to repair the roof of your garage. But how beautiful she will be!

Summing up, I would like to note that no matter what method of roof repair you choose, you still have dangerous work ahead of you - the height of the garage is about 2 meters and if you fall out of there, you can break all your bones. Be attentive and careful - caution never hurt anyone.

When starting to build a garage, or when repairing it, it is necessary to pay special attention to the roof - the safety of the car and all other equipment in the garage depends on its quality.

Most often, the garage roof is one or gable roof made from a metal sheet or metal profile. It is rare to insulate a roof, but even the use of insulation various types does not prevent water from penetrating into the building during heavy rainfall. In addition, there is always a risk that in winter, under the weight of fallen snow, the garage roof may become deformed.

Stages of work

Although screeding a garage roof is a labor-intensive and time-consuming process, it nevertheless not only has high waterproofing properties, preventing water from entering the room, but also prevents the roof from deforming under loads resulting from heavy winter precipitation.

Note! For a better connection, you must first apply a special bitumen primer to the dried cement screed.

Bituminous primer can be purchased at construction markets, although the price will be quite high, or do it yourself: the simplest method that people use is to fill the resin with diesel fuel (gasoline) + used motor oil, and it will dissolve itself in this environment. Half a bucket of bitumen will require 2 liters of diesel fuel. Applying this primer will ensure maximum adhesion. waterproofing material with a screed.

Often, instead of a primer, a special burner is used to heat the waterproofing material rolled out over the surface.

Concrete screeding of a garage roof is only possible if you are confident in the reliability of the foundation and walls of the building. Most often it makes sense to pour the screed on brick garage, which is installed on a tape or slab foundation and is designed for long service life.

More often concrete screed Garage roofing is performed with a horizontal or inclined roof structure. The remaining options - gable or complex geometry of the roof structure - pouring concrete does not make sense, it is too expensive.

What are the advantages of a concrete roof screed over monolithic reinforced concrete floor slabs and when should you choose concrete roofing?

Installing floor slabs on the roof is much more convenient and faster than pouring a cement screed. The only downside is that such coverage will cost more and you will need to hire lifting equipment.

When choosing a roofing option, an important fact is the load-bearing capacity of the walls and foundation of the garage. If the garage is old and the foundation is shallow and strip, then it is better to choose a roof structure made of wood.

Even at the roof design stage, it is necessary to calculate all the loads on the walls, taking into account the weight of the roof covering.

Concreting on corrugated sheets

The weight of the floor can be reduced by concreting the roof over corrugated sheets.

Sheets of grade “N” are strong and quite rigid, resistant to corrosion and light in weight. Thanks to the wave, the sheet forms additional stiffening ribs during subsequent casting concrete slab overlap increases bearing capacity roofs. Then, using such a roof, you can confidently build an extension over the garage.

The use of a profiled sheet when casting such a concrete slab reduces the cost of purchasing materials for formwork and reinforcing frame, since it itself is a permanent, durable formwork for the floor. The consumption of concrete mortar for such a floor slab will also be lower.

This method allows you to simplify the work of pouring a concrete screed for the garage roof and avoid installing complex formwork. This technology reduces the load-bearing load on the walls and foundation of the garage.

An additional advantage of the technique is resistance to adverse weather conditions and beautiful finish inside the garage there is a finished ceiling made of profiled sheets, resistant to open fire and high humidity.

When calculating loads and pouring concrete using this technology, it is important to take into account that when installing a frame for corrugated sheets, you need to install three load-bearing beams. To minimize the bending of the sheet, the pitch between the longitudinal beams is set to 50 cm.

How to make a simple screed on the roof of a garage - detailed instructions

A screed on the garage roof is the most reliable flooring option. If you select good material for roofing, the durability of this coating is the highest among other garage roofing options.

Materials for concrete garage roofing:

  • ready-mixed concrete (grade 250), it is advisable to choose a composition with anti-frost and water-repellent additives. The cost of such a solution will be about five percent more expensive, but it is resistant to moisture and low temperatures the screed will be much higher;
  • preparing concrete mortar with your own hands using a concrete mixer. We take the composition in the ratio of 30 kg of cement (M400) - 40 kg of sand and about 30 liters of water, you need a solution consistency like thick sour cream, you will also need medium-fraction crushed stone. You can add lime for plasticity (the ratio to cement and sand is 1 to 6). Lime must be dissolved in water and infused, then added to the dry mixture of sand and cement;
  • good to add to concrete mortar to reduce thermal conductivity, ready-made air-entraining additives and anti-frost additives (can be purchased at a hardware store);
  • for load-bearing roofs you will need I-beams (12 or 15) for a standard garage no longer than five meters;
  • reinforcement (10 mm), for knitting the reinforcing frame you also need knitting wire;
  • old boards or thick plywood for formwork;
  • rolled roofing felt or steel sheets- base for pouring concrete.

Let's consider performing the work step by step, stopping at important nuances, which must be remembered when pouring the garage roof.

  • first you need to position the floor beams, securing them securely in the wall (we cement them);
  • then roofing material is laid (in two layers) or metal sheets. You can also install profiled sheets over the beams, which will make the garage roof lighter and stronger;
  • We begin laying the roofing felt from the bottom point of the roof. We place the sheets overlapping, it is necessary that the roofing material fits tightly to the roof, for this it is heated and compacted several times. It is important that after installing the roofing felt layer there are no bubbles or voids left;
  • if the walls of the garage are one and a half bricks long and you are not sure that the support of the ceiling only on the walls is reliable, then you need to install additional supports;
  • Now you need to set up the formwork. You can cover the roof plastic film so that the concrete does not spread and cement laitance does not leak out.

  • after that you need to set the beacons according to the level. We take into account that it is necessary to slope the garage roof by approximately two degrees to drain rain and melt water;
  • reinforcement can be done using a mesh (cell 20x20) or by tying a reinforcing frame from reinforcement. It is not advisable to weld the frame, since when the concrete hardens, the screed may simply break;
  • It is necessary to leave a gap of 4–5 cm between the reinforcing layer and the formwork so that the metal does not protrude beyond the screed and critical cold bridges do not form. We level the surface with a layer of crushed stone of the middle fraction;
  • It’s better to pour the screed even with your own hands right away, in one go, this guarantees an even layer of concrete strictly along the beacons, without gaps and cracks;
  • if it is not possible to fill the entire surface at once, then we concrete it in strips, along the beacons. Screed thickness – at least 15 cm;
  • the inner surface of the formwork must be lubricated with working oil so that after the concrete has hardened, the boards can be easily removed without damaging the screed;
  • During the concreting process, it is necessary to “pin” the layer with reinforcement to prevent the formation of bubbles and voids, and also to compact it thoroughly.

  • to concrete mixture evenly distributed along the edges of the roof, tap the formwork around the perimeter during the concreting process. Pour the screed in two layers, leveling each one;
  • when the concrete sets, it will take a maximum of a day, depending on the weather, it is necessary to level and rub the surface so that there are no cracks left through which the screed quickly collapses;
  • Concrete hardens, depending on the brand and weather conditions, 14 - 28 days. In hot weather, the screed must be periodically moistened with water from a spray bottle to prevent cracks from forming, and in extreme heat, the concrete surface must be covered with a layer of film or boards. Concrete should not be allowed to dry in direct sunlight;
  • During the hardening period of the screed, the surface is ironed several times. Water the screed with water from a hose, pour cement thin layer and rub it into the surface with a brush. It is necessary to ensure that the surface stops absorbing powder, is even and smooth, without a network of small cracks and water stains;
  • in the first three days, when the concrete screed hardens, it needs to be moistened with water in the morning and evening, then one wetting per day for a week is enough. If the weather is hot and dry, then you need to wet the concrete every four hours;
  • the formwork can be removed ten days after concreting.

If all work is carried out in compliance with technology and no expense is spared on high-quality additives, then such a garage roof will last for many years. How to repair a concrete screed?

Garage roof repair

Repairing a concrete garage roof with your own hands is not difficult. The main thing is to find all the cracks, voids, gaps and chips and carefully seal them.

  • when sealing cracks and joints, first thoroughly clean the crack, and then seal it with a water-repellent sealant, wait until the composition hardens, and only then rub the repaired surface with cement;
  • Basically, repairing a concrete roof comes down to removing the old destroyed coating, removing debris and dirt. It is important to remove the entire destroyed concrete layer and identify all voids and pockets in the screed. When re-pouring the roof with concrete, pre-moisten the surface with a primer deep penetration for cement, this will improve adhesion and ensure thorough sealing of the old concrete screed;
  • it is more reliable and practical to use instead cement screed for roofing liquid rubber, which creates a durable water-repellent coating layer and does not carry heavy load on the walls and foundation of the garage. The cost of such a coating is not much more expensive than a concrete roof.
