Equipment for the production of stone is French. French fence: what is it and what is it like? Possible malfunctions and methods for eliminating them

The protective function of the fence, used since ancient times, has recently ceased to be the main and only purpose of any type of fencing. Increasing requirements for the aesthetic design of a site are forcing architects and designers to find new ways to use the fence as a means of visually changing the overall picture of the development.

French stone fence

A fence made of French stone with a wide variety of shapes and colors allows you to quickly produce beautiful fencing, which is clearly visible in the photo, with high durability and strength, and at a relatively low price.

What is French stone?

This is what French stone looks like

Reference: French stone is concrete block correct form, obtained by vibrocompression of fine concrete with a compression force of about 400 tons.

This provides the material with excellent characteristics:

  • High compressive strength and density;
  • Increased thermal insulation properties;
  • Low hygroscopicity, allowing to withstand repeated cycles of freezing and thawing;
  • High accuracy of linear dimensions;
  • No need for additional decorative processing;
  • Possibility of obtaining dyed material.

The hollow design of French stone blocks allows you to save mortar during laying, and the excess mortar squeezed inside forms a monolithic step that prevents horizontal displacement, which is especially important when laying the fence.

One of distinctive properties finished block is its low weight, which facilitates installation and reduces the requirements for the strength of the base.

Making your own French stone is shown in the video:

Types of stone used in the construction of fences

During construction stone fences Basically, two types of blocks made using French technology are used:

  • The main fence fabric is made of French stone, which has linear dimensions 120x200x400 mm. The wall thickness is 30 mm, and the central lintel is 50 mm, which, with a material compressive strength of 50 kg/cm2, provides excellent bearing capacity. Depending on the form used, the front side of the block can be smooth or, as can be seen in the photo, imitate the surface obtained by splitting granite, sandstone or other natural minerals, which significantly increases the aesthetic capabilities of the material;
  • No fence is complete without the basic load-bearing elements– posts, for the manufacture of which blocks are used with a width increased to 200 mm and, if necessary, equipped with special protrusions that create a strong locking connection between the post and the canvas. The increased thickness of the posts helps to improve the resistance of the entire fence to the loads applied in horizontal plane. The front side of the posts can also have a different front surface, which expands the aesthetic possibilities when making a French fence.

Both the posts and the stone for the main canvas can have a natural grey colour dried concrete and are painted by adding various pigments to the mass prepared for pressing, which ensures uniform coloring throughout the entire thickness of the resulting finished product. The dyes are resistant to ultraviolet light, atmospheric influences and retain their original appearance for a long time.

Imitation of natural stonework

Shown in the photo are options for making a French fence from color blocks with a combination of torn and smooth surface clearly show that with this inexpensive material You can even imitate the appearance of the wall of a medieval castle.

Laying similar fences

The manufacture of any fence must begin with the construction of a high-quality foundation. For French stone, due to its small size compared to natural materials weight, the cost of building a foundation is significantly lower. For such a design, a small concrete plinth with one ready-made belt reinforcing mesh industrial production with a rod thickness of about 6 mm or a lightweight pillar foundation. Bound around the perimeter with reinforced concrete tape.

Advice: The blocks are laid on cement-sand mortar, used for jointing masonry. The masonry joint of such a fence can be either convex or concave, depending on the preferences of the site owners.

Due to the fact that the material has flat surface and the correct geometric dimensions, the laying process is not particularly difficult for an experienced mason, and with some experience you can do the laying yourself. However, the maximum load on the seam should be taken into account and the work should be divided into several stages that ensure the mortar sets and prevents the structure from collapsing under its own weight.

Decoration option

To give additional weather resistance, fences made of French stone can be painted with special protective compounds and paints, but also without additional processing The service life of a properly folded canvas is about 50 years.

Thanks to stone blocks made using French technology, modern developers have the opportunity to make imitation a natural stone fences of great length and high strength, allowing you to turn any house and plot into a real fortress.

briefly turn on the vibrator, while the clamping frame with the hollow cores should be pulled back. After this, if necessary, add semi-dry mixture in the corners, pull the pressure frame towards you and lower it into the matrix with a lever and turn on the vibrator by hand by pressing the microphone (when the microphone is released, the vibrator turns off);
vibrate for 20 s. ;
after this, the clamping frame will lower to its limiters; Hold the lifting lever with both hands and lift the matrix. Raise the matrix with the vibrator turned on (the vibration should be small);
after raising the matrix, the limiter itself will fix the matrix in the raised state;
After this, roll the machine back to the width of the cinder block and repeat the cycle.
the vibrator motor should not overheat, water (moisture) and solution should not get on the switches/switches, on the motor housing and current-carrying wires), the vibrator is turned off when the machine is raised;

French stone: benefits of use

The material received the name French not at all because it was brought from France. This is the name for special ones, hollow inside, which are produced using a special vibration pressing method.

This production technology was created by French technologists, they also invented equipment for the production of this building material. Therefore, the result of their labor is called French blocks. French stone is treated with special moisture-proof compounds, which allows it to maintain its integrity when exposed to moisture.

In my own way appearance this material resembles, rough or smooth to the touch. Advantages of using French stone:

Preparatory work for installing a French fence

In order for the result of your work to please you for a long time, before starting construction you need to carefully prepare the site for placing the future fence. The fence will be of impressive size and quite heavy, so before you start laying the fence you need to carefully level the soil, remove all vegetation, fill the holes and compact them.

It is important to remember that if the soil subsides, the masonry will collapse and the fence will crack. Mandatory at the stage preparatory process is being compiled overall plan construction of the fence, the necessary markings are carried out, required measurements and material calculation.

Scheme combined fence French stone

It is better to make a sketch of the future structure in advance; from it you can always compare the correctness of the masonry. As a rule, the main fence fabric is laid out from French blocks measuring 12x20x40 cm.

The wall thickness is about 3 cm, which, with sufficient strength of the material, provides the proper load-bearing capacity.

Depending on the texture of the stone, the front side of the fence can be smooth or rough, imitating sandstone, granite and others natural materials. The construction of a fence is impossible without installing support posts. For their manufacture, French blocks can be used, which have special protrusions that create a strong “lock” connection between the post and the main fence sheet.

An example of support pillars made from French blocks

The front side of the pillars can also have a different texture. How support pillars, and the main fabric of the fence can have the gray natural color of concrete. Also, French stone can be painted with a variety of pigments. The process occurs at the stage of pressing the prepared mass, this ensures uniform color over the entire area of the finished product. The paints used are very resistant to exposure sunlight, precipitation and retain their original appearance for a long time.

French fences laid combined method from smooth and rough blocks will help create a unique medieval style. You can experiment with color and come up with various combinations to decorate your area.
